Ok, I wasn't sure where to put this, but I just wanted to congratulate one of the most deserving teams on their newest foray into the 7-Foot club! Tonight at the OC Pet Expo, Mark Stuart and Hogan (that would be the SENIOR dog known as Hogan) jumped an amazing personal best of SEVEN FEET in Super Vertical! WooHoo!! Inching right up close to Melissa and Stryker, Mark and Hogan did a fantastic job!

I also wanted to mention that Melissa and Stryker jumped better than ever for a Splash Dogs World Record of 7'-6" and then, if I'm not mistaken, went on to jump 7'-8"!

We had several newbies to SV. Charlene and Kia, first time out started at 5-feet (with the sun in their eyes no less!) and went all the way up to 6'-4" I think?? Christina and Savvy also started at 5-feet and were just 2" shy of that! Ok, I'm thinking there is a Chessie conspiracy going on here! We on the west coast have just way too much competition from those darn Chessies! ;)

Seriously tho', it was really a very cool thing to see everyone do so well with fellow competitors and a good number of spectators staying to way past dark just to cheer everyone on.

SV rocks! :D

I was just about to put an OC Update post together and saw your post Kim! Congrats to you and Emmy as well for taking 3rd place in SV with a 6'8" grab for Emmy! Super Vertical was truly a huge crowd pleaser!

Huge CONGRATS to Melissa and Stryker! They set a new Splash Dogs World Record of 7' 6"!

Just to add we also debuted the all new Mini SV in a demo of a few Lap Dog competitors, Bubbles, Twiztid and Vandal! Bubbles led the way wowing the crowds w/her consistent catches and newbies Twiztid and Vandal, well, they need a little more time to understand the game.

Congrats to all of our competitor's today - here are your SV Results

1. Stryker - - Melissa Ness - - 7' 6"
2. Hogan - - Mark Stuart - - 7'
3. Emmy - - Kim Buchanan - - 6'8"
4. Kia - - Charlene Cordiero - - 6'2"
5. Savvy - - Kristina Cordiero - - 6'
6. Maximus - - Brian Sardo - - 5' 4"

Ok, so my reporting isn't the best, but y'all got the gist of the message! <g> I'm soooooo sorry we had to miss today! How did everyone do??

Miss Em is doing better, but her neck is still a bit sore. Hopefully she'll be back to normal with a few days of rest. Darn dogs, they play so rough sometimes it's hard to know how they do these things!

That was certainly the most exciting SV competition I have been a part of since the indoor event at the Cow Palace a couple years ago.

A very heartfelt thank you to all who supported us on Saturday evening.

Urs, thanks for helping to get the crowd involved. It allows Hogan to perform his best.

That little bugger continues to amaze me. He just keeps going and getting better with age.

Kim, it was great competing with you. Great to see Emmy back and strong.

Salix is going to be a heck of a SV dog to be dealt with at this game for a long time.

Most of all we needed just a few more minutes of light so Stryker could have kept going up...that dog had 4 more inches in him for sure.

All the best...

Congrats to Mark and Melissa

Mark for hitting 7'. I know Mark is always thinking Hogan doesn't have it in him anymore and he always proves you wrong. Not bad for a veteran. He has quite a few events left in him.

Melissa, We will never get to see what Stryker can really do. Either the competition doesn't let you get up there or there isn't enough light.

The way the crowd stuck around way after the event was over and them screaming higher, higher, we definately need to make this a main attraction during the middle of the day.

We definitely need to look at making SV a mid day event. There were many comments from spectators when they left that they truly enjoyed the show even after sticking around past closing over an hour and an afternoon of 90 degree weather....

We should have some of the top competitors in the nation at the crown, So as long as there is light we shall get to see a great show, and see who the top vertical dawg is this year. Now if we could just start at a reasonable height so my lazy couch tater wouldn't be pooped by 7ft, we are working on that though. (the couch potato part that is) Our Goal of starting at 6 going to 7+ is actually clicking with him. Hey speaking of crown does anybody know how many dawgs will be competing I am thinking about having some nice beer mugs made with all the competitors dawgs names.

Endurance is the name of the game baby, It's just like weightpull you come in at certain weight and see who has the endurance to be at the end. That makes for a true athlete and a true Champion.
