The Chessie Cartel will be attending.

Please don’t forget this event is not only for the dogs but also supports the wonderful children of the Make-A-Wish-Foundation. This is a great time for the Splashdog gang to come together and volunteer a few hours to ensure every child leaves the event with a huge smile and possibly a few doggie kisses. Your volunteer time is as priceless as the special moments you will witness on the dock.

You guys know I can't miss this event! The cause alone is worth the drive...(there is an event just 45 minutes from my house this year at this time, Wendy enjoy the short commute!)

This year, we're bringing along the whole family, 5 dogs (Gunner, Twiztid, Vandal, Aries and Lucky) and the 4 humans, Urs, Ally, Ryan and Amanda! I'm so glad I'll be able to share it w/my own children this year. If we can put a smile on one Make a Wish child's face, it will make it all worth while...

As always, I'll be the one running around like a chicken w/it's head cut off, so the more volunteers the better!

Nevada, Boomer, Kassie and I will be there for sure Saturday and Sunday and keeping my fingers crossed for Friday too (Might have to work :() I registered for all the waves for Friday but if something comes up and I have to work I will let Wendy/Urs??? know as soon as possible so they can give the waves to someone else. I am hoping to get Boomer off the dock again this year. He has been doing great at home in the pool but we all know the dock is different and scary to some pups.

and....... YES, YES, YES, count Nevada in for the kids and Kassie too (she gives great kisses) Watching the kids with our dogs is the best part about this event. Gives you the warm and fuzzies knowing that you put a smile on a child who may otherwise be having a tough time in life.

Ladies bring your credit cards to the event. Otay Ranch Town Center is pet friendly and practically every store will allow your pet inside while you are shopping. When was the last time you took your best friend shopping for fine china at Macy's?

Unfortunally I think it may be, the vet said ....L7 Lumbar Sacral Disease ? (hopefully I spelled that right) I noticed her hurting after juming up during Narcotics training, so off to the vet the next day. I asked her vet about her dock jumping and he said that is the worst thing for her back....we went to the river last weekend and she got dead tail only after around an hour swimming so I'm sure it's been related to the back for some time now.

She got what I believe was heat stroke out there, it was 116 degrees and even thou she was swimming all day....that evening she was lethargic, drooling, panting and had a sore on the side of her mouth, I tried to get her to a vet in bullhead to take us but they would not see us since I was not a client so we left first thing in the morning and came home to a emergancy vet here, he thought it was a reaction to the meds she is on for her back, but I just don't know.

I took her back Monday to her vet and he said it could be a combination of possible, bug bite on her mouth, back/tail hurting, heat stroke so he sedated her all day and gave her a IV with lots of fluids....it took all week for her to come around after being sedated....it's been a scary week....she is back to being Sadie again....except she isn't holding her tail like normal so I'm sure the back is still hurting.

I figure I'm going to go support the kids and just let Sadie take a few laps through out the day in the pool off the ramp since he said that swimming is the best exercise....hmmmmmm some how we are just going to have to get a pool...

Thanks for asking Sandra

Not sure if it's any help, but Jasper had lumbar sacral disease and we treated it with acupuncture, chirorpractic and physical therapy (exercises we did at home 3-5 times/week) and he hasn't had a sign of back pain or issues in over a year now. We treated it for about a year before it seemed to be addressed so it was a long road, but I'm thrilled with where he's at now!

Thank you everyone for your kind get well wishes and prayers. We truly appreciate it. This will not stop us from having fun with our Splash family...like I said she may be on hold right now from jumping but she will still come and take a swim here and there off the ramp.. :-)......

Wendy I'd like to talk to you more about what you did, so maybe at Wags you can fill me in more.

Shari - thank you for the swimming offer, you just never know I may take you up on that.

I did go look at a couple yesterday....and will keep looking, I have to figure out how to fit one and then afford on :-) but as everyone knows Sadie is my life and what ever it takes to make her happy and get better I will do.......it's

Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear about Sadie. She will be in our thoughts and prayers as well. I want to concur with Wendy on the Accupuncture and Chiro. The two labs we had before Maxx and Lucy were both on those treatments. Teddy had problems with some discs in his spine--had accupuntcure and Chiro. Nayna had arthritis in her back and hips and we had accupuncture on her, too. UNBELIEVEABLE results!! They would hobble in to the office but be frisky and refreshed when they left. I used to think it was all a bunch of "whoie" until I saw what happened with Teddy and Nayna. No plecebo effect because they don't know what you're doing to them--made me a believer that there must really be something happening here. It might really be of some help to Sadie, I would definately look into it but with someone who is well qualified and practices BOTH western and eastern vet medicine. Don't go to a holistic ONLY vet. Our Vet is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in this. Is up here in Davis and has vets from all over wanting to come train with him. You might want to email him (tell him we recommeded him) and ask him who he might recommend down in your area or any any advice on getting someone that would be good. His name is Dr. Al Raymond. I have a link on my website home page to his site. But I'll give it to you here, too: http://www.animalwellnesscenterdavis.com/ and his email is: doctorraymond@hotmail.com

As to Wags, I'm afraid I won't be able to make it after all. It turns out that my brother-in-law will be bringing my nephew out for a visit from Michigan that weekend. My sister died in '99 just a couple weeks after Nathan was born, and Bob has been wonderful at bringing him out every year to spend time with his family on the west coast. I'm sorry I'll miss Wags but I know you all will have a wonderful time.

Give Sadie a hug (gentley) for us :-) and let us know how she progresses.

Cindy,

I'm really sorry to hear about Sadie's injury! Of course, it's all making sense now from the Rancho Cucamonga show. :(

I know of several dogs who have had a back injury in the same location (mostly agility dogs, including Emmy's mom) so it is somewhat common, but it's a long recovery with a lot of physical therapy. In addition to the swimming, which should be very good, there are daily exercises you can do. I'm sure Wendy can get you on the right path.

My thoughts are with you two!

Kim

Thank you Kim... I know your right about Rancho......she must have been hurting there....especially when she decided not to jump......Hope to see you at Wags...

I will do what ever it takes to get my baby better...she is my life...it's been so hard to keep "FOUR ON THE FLOOR" she still acts like she has springs on her feet...she is out of control... :-)

I just checked the site..boy, you've been through a lot. I sure hope Sadie is on the mend this week. Sounds like you have some good plans for her ...wish I had a pool for her to swim in..
we look forward to seeing you and Sadie at Wags and I'll bring your money...
Good thoughts and our prayers for Sadie's recovery.

Thank you Katie. Everyone has been so supportive and helpful. Splash dog family is the best.....that is why we are still coming out for the weekend. To be around family, friends and for the kids. Sadie can swim around at times and just enjoy being around the children. It should be great fun no matter what. I already have your sun shade in my truck so I wouldn't forget it, they are really nice.

See you in a few days and thank you again for your support, prayers and thoughts. Thank you everyone!!!!!!!

Love to all, from Cindy & Sadie
