View Full Version : July photo contest theme............

OK so those of you who know me know I'm not very creative so I have been trying to come up with a theme for the photo contest and truthfully wasn't having much luck. Then saw the picture of Sir William and it came to me, the theme for July will be............."Best Catch". Please post those great catching moments where the dogs have actually caught the toy in the air before they land. Hope everybody has fun with this.

Well this isn't in subject.......But wanted to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July! Was hoping JJ would pick a patriotic theme for this months pic.....or patriotic kissing theme.....but alas.....we will have to search the archives for a "points for the catch" picture......
Anyway....Chloe and I, Ginger and Erin wish you all a Happy and Sane Fourth!

Dave,
I love the pic. But just exactly what toy is that she's catching in the air?
Team Chloe
07-03-2008, 04:37 PM
That is a valid question.....
I don't know about you......but I really believe my pup thinks I am her toy!
That pic isn't for the photo contest...only to wish everyone a Happy and Sane Fourth....

Here's Sally's entry. I had several of her catching the bumper, but I like her expression in this one. Those eyes!!!!
****Photo deleted*** Since changed to "almost catches," Sally's entry is now the one with the frisbee.

Well I have gone through my plethora of photos and don't have one photo of Nevada with a catch in the air :( We haven't been doing the Chase technique for very long and she has only caught it 3 times, maybe 4. Unfortunately nobody caught them on film. Lets hope she will do it again at Wags and somebody gets it.

JJ thanks for grabbing the idea from Sir William. Here is his picture of this fantastic topic and BTW if you look at his scarf this would fit both your topic and Dave's topic :D
BTW for those who think he is starting to turn into a fish I have just had a DNA test done on him and it came back negative, sorry he is all dog no fish ancestry.

Since the criteria changed to "almost catches," this is now Sally's official new entry. I can just imagine what's going through that little chocolate mind: "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can."

OK, seems to me that I might have selected too narrow of a theme for the photo contest, sorry. I would like to expand it to include the "almost catch" so that more people can play. Looking for pictures of the dogs in the air either catching their toy or almost catching. Pictures don't only have to be dock diving, feel free to post pictures of your dogs doing any activity as long as they are catching or almost catching their toys.
Also, wanted to let everyone know that thanks to Urs and her wonderful sponsors at Natura Pet, this months winner will receive a coupon for free bag of EVO food.
Hope this gets more people involved in this month's photo contest.
Good luck everyone

ACKKKKK! Now, I'm really in a bind. I could go several different ways with this. I've got tons of great almost catches of both bumpers and tennis balls.
If anyone needs photos for the contest, I'll gladly rent them out. :)

What a great idea for a contest! Here is one of Colby at his third event, catching the wubba because of my obviously not-great-throw (notice how close to the dock he caught it?!?!?!):

And here is one of Abraham catching the frisbee... vicious, isn't he? Its blurry because of his lightening fast speed and the camera couldn't keep up with the muscles? :p

well I sure hope you don't think I'm the rules guru as I have really just been making this up as I go along and hoping nobody notices that I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Not sure how this all is actually supposed to work but I would say since I changed the theme (mid contest) then certainly you can post another picture. When it comes time for nominations I will make sure that we nominate 5 different dogs (not 5 different pictures of the same dog, lol). Again, glad to see more people can be included

Notice the foot placement on the fence....the careful body control.....and the correct head angle to balance the string of the SV Bumper on the end of her nose!!

Thanks Dave, that's so nice of you. I'm sorry the photo didn't turn out the way I had envisioned, however. I ALSO was hoping that she would have had her head tilted my direction and winking one eye, but I guess you can only ask for so much :-)
But to everyone, it has always been my wish and goal to bring you happy memories and photos to treasure. Being able to share these memories together with you has also brought me so much happiness as well. You all are amazing--so many stories, so many interesting experiences, so many wonderful dogs--each and EVERY one!! Thank you for all your kindness and support.

Now if MickeyD had been standing on a star, balancing the moon on his nose, with the bumper in his mouth.....then it would be an outstanding picture! Combining agility, coordination, intensity and poise.....that's what makes an outstanding dock jumping picutre! That is what Howie captures!!
Great picture Sandra.....but dang....I was going to hire you as my campaign manager since you did such a great job with SPUD!
I was looking to hire that 100 year old ringer....I think she said she was 92....to be our spokesmodel!!

OK guys sorry I haven't been on the board much (Spud hurt himself and have been busy with that). IT is getting to be time to do nominations. Right now we have lots of great photos but several people entered their dog more than once and per the rules you can only enter one picture per dog. Mickey D has 3 photos so Sandra can you please pick only one and Labpaw there are two of Abraham (one with a catch and one without) so please pick just one. Also if there is anybody else who wants to enter please do so today. Here's what we have so far
