OK, guys have a few updates for Vallejo!

1) It will be cooler there than it is where I am in Livermore - yeah!
2) We will not be able to take credit cards at this event. Please bring cash or check or plan on hitting an ATM machine. Our credit card machine will be in San Diego :(
3) We are set up in a covered area - the whole splash dogs area is under the cover including the competition - so there is lots of shade!
4) Remember you only get one entry per competition dog, all others will need to pay regular fair entry. These passes have a high value to the fair!
5) NO Dogs outside the splash dogs area at any time!
6) Check in by 1pm on Sunday for the finals
7) If you need to get a hold of someone at the event to check in for the finals or for any other event related reason. Call my cell phone at: 510-299-1665. Leave a message and I'll check messages every hour or two.

Event Entry Information
# Parking: Parking will be free for competitors who pre-register by July 7th. Parking will be in the Employee/Vendor lot off Sage. Passes will be available at the Sage St Guard gate (there will be a list of pre-registered competitors at the guard gate).
# Unloading: You will be allowed to unload at the Gate, then go park and then cart/carry your stuff to the Splash Dogs area.
# Event Entry: Competitors who pre-register by July 7th will receive 1 free entry pass per entered dog. These passes will be available at the Sage St Guard Gate (there will be a list of pre-registered competitors). Registrants after that time will be required to buy tickets to the fair.

So, which is it? No shade, or lots of shade? :)

So is the crating area under cover as well? Guess I just need to know if we should still plan on bringing an ez-up or not? Sorry for all the questions but if we don't need it would rather not haul it.

JJ:
We just got back from a jump in Vallejo. You do not need an easy up. They have put SD under a huge tent (a tent for shade, not like a camping tent, duh!) It was wonderful to go to 84 degrees and then to come back here to Auburn at 108! Only 3 dogs jumped in the 1:00 wave and the longest jump was 17'11" by you know who. This is Tony's new dock and it is a little spongy (Jim said...or at least that was his excuse!) Plenty of crate area. It is not in the same spot as last year so if you go in on the Sage Drive entrance walk straight back (almost to the end) then it is off to the right)

All right, I've been at the event all day and have some more updates!

Reminder - enter through the Sage gate.
You will then get your parking and entry pass from the guard and then park in the employee parking lot and walk to the Splash Dogs area. This is at least a 200-300 yard walk, so bring carts if you have a lot of stuff to carry. You will NOT be allowed in to unload - there will apparently be livestock in the parking lot we used for unloading last year.

You will walk down the main fairway and see Splash Dogs on the right about 2/3 of the way down. We are almost exactly opposite where we were last year (which would be on the left at the location where you need to look right now!).

Dogs are NOT allowed outside of the Splash Dogs venue, however you do need to walk your dogs in and out. Please be quick about it and do not stop to see the sights or purchase food with your dogs or to let the public interact with your dogs. This is VERY important to the fair and could result in us not being welcome back if it is abused. This is a safety and liability issue for the fair.

You DO NOT need canopies. Plenty of shade in the area.

We're still working on an optimal dog potty area at the site, we do ask that you don't take your dogs right into the middle of the picnic grass area next to our location! Ask a staff member for info if you need it!

Looking forward to things picking up a bit more tomorrow as it was a quiet day today.

How is the smoke over there? It is pretty bad in Reno right now.

I saw that the fair starts at 11. Will we be able to get in a bit earlier, to set up and start on the training at 11 sharp? Or the gates won't open to anyone before 11?

We just got back from Vallejo and compared to Auburn the smoke is not bad at all. Also the weather was rather cool only 71 the other day it was 86 so make sure you check the weather as I needed a jacket today and JJ was freezing!
