Just got a message from Tony that there are two labs in rescue in Hollister (fairly urgent) one is 7 months (adorable) the other is 6 years they were found abandoned in a foreclosed home. Can you help? If you need more pictures let me know.

You should try contacting lab rescue to make sure they are aware of the dogs...

Thanks Wendy, but that has been done. With so many people losing their homes and placing the dogs in shelters there are few left to foster...everyone is full. These dogs probably only have a few days left.

Sandra (or Tony),
Do you have any more details? Male or Female, kid friendly, dog friendly, spayed/nuetered, etc. ?
Where is Hollister and who can be contacted with more info on the dogs?
Thanks,
Stacie

Hollister is just a little south east of Gilroy.

We haven't done fostering before but sounds like desperate times for these 2. Please send us more info (sex, temperament, health) -- we're only an hour from Hollister and could probably house 2 more labs temporarily.

Thank you thank you thank you!
Here is the information that was sent to me. I do not know if they are still open today but try and contact them tomorrow as I think Monday will be the drop dead time.
One is a 1 1/2 yr old black unneutered male, real good tempered and loves to play, the second is a 5-6 yr old black nuetered male. He is also good tempered and loves to play. They came to the Hollister animal Shelter pretty boney. The house they came from was foreclosed on. They both have been temperment tested and checked for food aggression. Other than being hungry we had no problems. We had named the 1 1/2 yr old Jack and the 5-6 yr old Zack. They did come in together, but have been around other dogs with no problems also. Yesterday we washed all the shelter dogs and all went good. Hollister Animal Shelter is going to have a Grand Opening this Sat, so we have been able to keep the shelter from putting these Labs down, but they are filling up and these 2 have been there awhile and will be one of the first to be put down if I can't get these boys out of there. Any help saving these guys life is really appreciated.
Please send me and email at sandraestewart@yahoo.com and keep me posted! Again thank you!

I had a couple of people who showed some interest in these dogs, however, I have not heard back from anyone. Has someone contacted the shelter? Please let us know.

I had contacted the Shelter on Friday and talked to a Volunteer.....sounded like she didn't know which dogs I was talking about and said someone would call me back......no one did. Sorry for not getting back to you, sounded like Cyndi was going to take them, I hope she had better luck than I did in getting info from the shelter. The shelter was having a big Open House on Saturday, let's hope someone found them irresistable! In the meantime I've moved on and have already gotton involved with another Rescue, but I do know someone who may be interested in one of the labs......Cyndi/Sandra let me know if you want me to contact them.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the foster situation is covered for these 2 abandoned labs ;) The older one may be adopted on Monday, so we may be fostering 1 or both. I'll post more photos, videos and descriptions on my website when we pick-up the dogs (after neutering) along with their training progress. The Hollister rescue worker thinks the younger one may have good dock diving potential (good ball drive and big jumper) so we'll definitely be introducing that training too and bringing them to ISE San Mateo if not placed over the holidays. Maybe another Smoke?!
Stacie, I heard you might have an interested home already -- yeah! Feel free to send people my way at cyndi.harrell@comcast.net. Here's the info Sandra and I received from the Hollister rescue about the dogs so far:
One is a 1 1/2 yr old black will-be-neutered male, real good tempered and loves to play, the second is a 5-6 yr old black neutered male (may be closer to 4 but has had some hard times). Photos at http://baddawgrescue.com/shelterdawgs.html.
I do have someone coming to visit Zack on Mon. I think Jack would be an awesome dog. He is still very thin, but he can jump straight into the air and touch the top of his kennel. He is a young dog, maybe 1 1/2 at the most. Definitely a purebred Lab.
Thanks for everyone's help in this rescue!
