Hi everyone. Mom said I should update everyone. She's a little busy getting things ready for Christmas
Gumpy was finally seen at the new vet and oncologist last week. The Oncologist was able to give us a little more hope than we had thought. He is now starting a whole new protocol that if he responds to could give him up to another 6 months to a year. He was given the induction treatment last week and within 24 hours his lymphnodes where down 90%. We can still slightly feel them but he is back to his old self and looks great. He was also back to his full Gumpy self and full of trouble.
We saw the vet again yesterday for his second treatment and he said that he looked great and much happier and believe it or not his temperament was actually nice as well. He was able to be handled without a muzzle on.
We did not get the news that we had hoped for but it's ok. Gumpy is not in remission yet but he is headed that way.
He may never go into a full remission but if he keeps responding to treatment he may sill get a good amount of time. His next treatment is in two weeks so we'll know more then. Today all he wants to do is sleep on the couch and be with us all the time.
The only thing that Gumpy and I are a little upset about is, he will not be able to go to any events for a while. The vet said that it's not safe for him right now to be with a bunch of other dogs. We hope that he can be out again soon. I know we are doing what is best for him but he still has so much energy and I know that letting him do what he loves even just a little bit will help him.. We just have to wait and see how his blood counts are towards Febuary.
Then again in Febuary we may not be able to jump because Mom has to have surgery and she can't take me for a few weeks.
Right now I am just happy to have another Christmas with Gumpy. Even though he is driving us all crazy.
