Snapple was assisted by his Vet today to The Rainbow Bridge, after a brief (but devastating) unknown week-long illness. Speculation is some sort heart failure. Due to Snapple's age, further extensive testing was not recommended, as it would probably have stressed him too much and led to an earlier, more painfull, death.
It was time, as he was unable to move out of a prone position for the last few days.

Snapple's "sister" of 14 years (Emily) was by his side and rested her head on Snapple's just before the injection (even though the two of them shared the same doggie bed, it's something she had never done in the past.)

Snapple (while barely being able to hold his frisbee in his mouth) and I spent time this afternoon on the pier, laying side by side, reminising about his dock jumping practices he so loved, from that pier, when healthy (up till just recently)

Snapple's favorite times were the many Splash Dogs competitions that he attended.

I know all of us dog lovers have been through this heartbreak, but it's been over 14 years for me, so if any of you have any words of wisdom, as I'm coping with the gamut of emotions from this difficult, unexpected at this time, loss, please do pass along.

Thank you, and remember to hug you dog every day, as they are a gift from God to us.

Snapple is at peace! Snapple had his best life! He was put in your hands to love, cherrish, laugh with, cry with and to be his companion and him yours! That relationship was true....filled with love....filled with fun. Snapple will be one of those pups that lives on in your heart forever! Snapple did overcome so much....he was a fighter....and now his fight has ended...Rest in Peace Snapple as you play with all of the other splash dogs that have come before you! The dock up there is always dry, the pool always filled with water and you can keep practicing your jumps one after one....Jump big Snapple!!! You left a mark on our hearts!!!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Don!!!

Know that your Splash Dog family embraces you and will be keeping positive thoughts for you. Know that Snapple is up at the Rainbow Bridge, out of pain and discomfort, and having the time of his life. He is running on the dock with so many other great dogs, our dog, Cash is one of them. The good news about the Rainbow Bridge is they don't even have to wait in line! God bless you.

Don, First thing I did this morning was read the message board. I too like everyone out there feels your pain.We all might feel it in a little different way, but maybe just knowing each one of us is holding the broken bits of your heart in our hands and hearts I hope will make you feel just a little better. Yes you and Snapple were a great team to compete with and just be around. May you find comfort in everything everyone has sent your way.

I want to thank you all, in the Splash Dogs Family, for your comforting words during my time of sorrow.
I miss Snapple so much and the times we shared together. There are many reminders around the house of him, especially from his Splash Dog days...photos by Howie, Splash Dogs competition ribbons and certificates, medals from CynoSport, not to mention the many bottles of supplements he took during his 27 month cancer remmission (I can probably open my own Herbal Shop, out of my house, with what I have on stock).
He was a very special dog, like none other I've ever had in the past or present, which seems to make this loss tougher than others.
I just continue to tell myself he is now jumping pain-free off the "Rainbow Dock" in his new body and I hope I will be able to hold my own, with my handler skills (or lack there-of), when we "meet" again.

I am so sorry for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting Snapple, but it is obvious how loved and cared for he was. I am thinking of you during this difficult time, and our hearts are with you as well.

Don, I just read the postings about Snapple. I am so very sorry and my prayers are with you. I was just bragging to someone about Snapple just the other day. I've taken so many photos of all these dogs for the last couple years that I feel almost like they are "my" dogs too and I am deeply touched by the things that happen to them--both good and sad. Snapple was blessed to have been your companion. I'm sure that with the renewed energy that he has recieved from God that he is thoroughly having a wonderful time at the Rainbow DOCK!!

I have a Memorial page on my website that I desperatly want to get the time to finish, not just for my dogs that have past but Chief, Gabe, Snapple. I think I WILL make some changes on it and add the Rainbow Dock to it. What could be more fitting!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Don, you have truely proved yourself a Righteous man (Prov 12:10 -- my tag line)

Very Sincerely,
Howie

Don,

I was saddened to read about Snapple. Dave said it best. You gave Snapple the best life. He lived with his dad in God's country of Lake Tahoe and was part of the Splash Dogs Family.

The Splash Dogs Family will all miss Snapple!!!!

So sorry to hear about Snapple. Please accept my thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Dave and the others said it best. Time will heal but you will never forget and that is okay. From time to time you will be sad and that is okay too. Snapple may not be part of the physical world but he is always there "in your heart".............. RIP Snapple!
