Good Luck Shari and Nevada!
I also want to send out a good luck to Tracy and Mustang! Just got a call from them and they're head to Kansas City! Mustang is set to jump in the Junior Division--let's hope they bring home a medal for the West Coast! :D

31 deegrreeees, :P
I haven't felt that kind of cold in about 9 yrs. I usaually avoid visiting family that time of year, but I will be going to Boston for Thanksgiving this year. The worst part is I don't own anything more than a sweatshirt. I am sure it's going to be pretty cold out there. This morning was about 59 out here and I thought that was pretty chilly.

Ok all you smarty pants.... 8)
I have a feeling I'm getting a little "pier" pressure from the dock from you all.....
I'd type more....but it's SOOOOO cold here that I have to dig out some mittens and I haven't perfected my mitten-typing-skills yet! I usually have that accomplished by Thanksgiving!

LOL. :D
How could I possibly not love those West Coast people??
Wasn't this a good luck thread for Shari??? I hope her and Nevada are jumping well. Did you hear that Tracy and Mustang took 2nd place in the Junior Division?
And Bart.....don't know about being part-Eskimo....but definitely part-Gypsy!
Oh--and Sarge doesn't need 80 temps for swimming! He'll be swimming in these lakes as long as he can break ice at the same time! 8)
Remind me again of what I'm missing???? :P

Sarge's 6'10" was with Dave Breen as the handler--it was a "regional" event put on by the Chicagoland DockDogs club in Rockford some time in June (can't remember the date...). But because it was a "regional" event it didn't go toward any kind of National rankings for the Worlds or Nationals for DDogs. But it was a great showdown between Sarge and BlackJack with Dave handling both dogs.....but that's another story.....
Wasn't this thread about wishing good luck to Shari and Nevada--who by the way are in the Elite finals! YEA!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

Are you heading down this way to Scottsdale for Cynosports?
Will Amanda and Sarge be heading this way too?
I definitely might have to make the trip for sure now.
and your right EVERYONE is invited, title or no title, Regional or National. If your dog can jump he or she is invited.

Bart,
Your going to have to find a way to get down here. I need a few pointers on the "Richardson Flick". How do you keep that thing straight :? ? JK, I hope you make it down though.
BTW this subject has gone way off course. CONGRATULATIONS Shari and Nevada you guys had some tough competition out there.

I never replied you any of you to thank you for your well wishes at the DD Nationals. Thank you all so much for thinking of us.
I had a COLD time in Kansas. Froze my tushie off. We did okay but it would have been nice to have had more practice time on the competition dock which was into the Cabela's pond. They only let us do one practice jump before the prelim's and the finals :?: . Not sure why cause after we all made our 1 jump we stood around for another 30 minutes waiting for the competition to start. I think those of us that wanted to could have practiced more. All our practice was done into a pool set up across the parking lot. It was a completely different dock and feel, pool water verses pond water, truck bed dock verses built half into the water dock. I think it affected Nevada's jumps somewhat. Saturday the weather was great and she pulled off a 24 footer to get us into the top 12 but Sunday was a different story. She had me scared the first time she went on the competition dock. It had rained hard all night and the dock was saturated with water. She did her usual run out to the end of the dock but instead of laying down she stood there looking all around scooping out the conditions for it seemed liked forever. I suppose after she satisfied herself that it was all okay she took a deep breath, laid down and looked back at me as if to say okay we can go now. For a minute there I didn't think she was going to jump. Her unsureness definitely showed with her first jump though. She hit a 21.9. Her second jump was a 23.3, three jumps and bam we were done. Course I don't know what the practice jump was but I could see her hesitation and it didn't look very big from my vantage point. We ended up in 7th. Still very respectable, although I think had we been able to practice more she might have pulled out some bigger jumps. Of course everybody had the same conditions but I don't think it bothers the labs as much as it does some of the other breeds. Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles. My girl thinks too much, hence the really smart pooch. When it comes down to the nitty gritty I wouldn't have her any other way so I will take my licks with pride.
The best part of the weekend was at the banquet they named Nevada as the 2006 No. 1 Border Collie, gave me a beautiful plaque and has put a permanent smile on my face. I am sure most of you already knew this but I must say it feels good to say it over and over again : :D
Again, THANK YOU all so much for the well wishes :D and I am looking forward to a new year on the docks with you all.
