Let's post-up pics and show off our dogs!

As Sardo said in another post:

You must have your image hosted online. If you don't have a website, try a free hosting site like Photobucket. You have to register with them

After you upload your images, Photobucket (or whatever site you choose) usually has an already written string of code for you to put up on the bottom of the picture you choose.

The code should start with and end with
Than copy and paste it on your reply and they should show up

If you are hosting your own pictures, the code should look like this:
http://www.youraddress.com/yourPicture.jpg (with no spaces)

I used this from another forum and it works!!!!!!

That shot is great!!!! I love the side shot of SV photos, when the dog is at full stretch with their back arched, photos like that show true performance.

and the Maximus looks like a rock thing, he is 19" tall and 55lbs. I think all the muscle especially in his rear legs kind if hinders him a bit. My plan for next year is alot more cardio and a lot less of jumping exercises and see if I can't cut some muscle off that way and see how it works out. If any body has some better ideas of leaning muscle down, please let me know, any info would be appreciated.

Click on this here and you can see one of the runs. BIG mistake on this one!!! When I put the pool on the hood, I put a dob of caulking then ran the screw through it so it would not leak the water. Well I should not have used WHITE CAULK. When the water was put, in the caulk was not dry and turned the water silicone white. After the first splash in the video I could see no more. The window was only a BIG BLURR.
I have the good video that won the MOST SPECTACULAR for the second year in a row on order. Matt's girl friend took this one.

Hey Sardo,

Being newbie's to the sport, could you elaborate on the place & send technique vs. the chase technique you mentioned with one of your photos? What an athlete your boy is! IMPRESSIVE!!! :D

Here is one of some just plain COOL dogs...

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q67/labpaw/DSCN0273.jpg

Sardo
10-24-2006, 05:58 PM
The place and send is when you place the toy out in the water and you set the dog back. and release him. The only problem with this technique is the dog usaully jumps flat, but not all dogs.

the chase technique is when you stand at the edge of the dock and you set the dog back, when he comes running down the dock you try to time the throw so that the dog tries to catch it in the air keepin his head up and they usually get alot more lift and alot more distances this way. This technique is difficult as you are trying to time the throw with the pace of your dog and trying to keep the object straight in front of him.

BOcephus
10-24-2006, 06:11 PM
This technique is difficult as you are trying to time the throw with the pace of your dog and trying to keep the object straight in front of him.

How right you are Brian.
I had to give it up. With the broke collar bone I cannot deliver a on target throw. Even the Granny under hand throws were landing in the crowds. And we usually throw 2x4's. Oh yes a few lights have paid the price as well.
Problem I had mostly was trying to throw while watching him run down the dock. With the state of mind I have (due to the fun earlier years mixed with bridge falls) I have to seethe target spot while I throw.
If I could just get BO or Rrrufus to say NOW while they are running, when they want me to toss it we could have some good numbers...

deedclemdogg
10-24-2006, 06:14 PM
Dead on Brian! Great break down of those techniques!

And Maximus looks sooooo long in the one EV picture! He's amazing--and he sure has really come far since meeting you two last summer at Wags! And look, you're still just as nice and helpful!

There's also a great article on www.sportmutt.com about the chase. It discusses a great way to train for the technique. Some dogs catch on to the Chase very quickly--and some not so quickly. Check it out for some great light reading and things to think about!

Isn't that for real. my only difference would be that only my dog could do this :P  :P !!!!!!!!

Your right Amanda, that article is great for learning the chase and there are a couple of other articles that are great like the understanding physical conditioning article and food and performance article, which are pretty frequently asked questions by the more experienced and the newbies because you can never stop learning when it comes to training dogs.

I know, I've talked to Brian a little on the DockDogs site. Sounds like he has quite a dog as well. One of these days one of us will have to make a trip to compete in the same event. We've done some Ultimate Vertical (EV, or whatever you wanna call it) as well but have only hit 5'8" so far. I think we've only competed in that 3 times so far.

Great picture of Rajah! 8)
If I'm not mistaken...I walked on that dock in the background of your picture. Tell me that was taken in Traverse City, MI? One of the prettiest places to have an event! I think my drive over to Traverse City was the prettiest and one where we stopped along the way the most often to play on the beaches! :D

Bart's right (such a great phrase  )--you should plan a vacation out to Wags! Of all the events I've ever been at--it's the most amazing with so many dogs and for such an incredible cause! Seeing the kids interact with the dogs--even the very "excited" dogs like MickeyD and watching that kid handle Bubbles--PRICELESS! And if I have to think about Mark Stuart's look from across the pool--I'm going to cry all over again! It's truly a great event! And I'm sure with West Coast hospitality the way it is--they'll all make sure to take care of you and Rajah when you visit!

Welcome aboard splashdogs,

I am sure Maximus and Rajah would love to have a showdown together!!!! I am going to Cyno here in a couple of weeks and we will see if Maximus can't change that quote of yours on your signature there buddy. I always like to have a goal and 22'5" is it right now . We'll see if the "Richardson flick" can get him the distances he needs. When is your event coming up so we can keep each other updated?

Rajah
10-25-2006, 07:14 AM
Hey Brian. My next event would be the Novi, Michigan jump next month that Splashdogs is hosting. I'll be there on Sunday only though.

This will be Rajah's 1st indoor jump since our 1st time ever at an event which was this past March. His only ever indoor competition, he would NOT jump, but like I mentioned, it was his 1st ever event anyway.

As for my picture, that was in Traverse City where he hit his 22'4" jump, however, I had 3 or 4 different people that thought for sure that his jump was about 23', but I have to go with what the judges say... oh well.

Sardo
10-25-2006, 07:33 AM
Were the judges doing it manually or by computer for that jump?

Maximus and I have never competed indoors yet. I am kind of glad because of all the horror stories I have heard. I don't think Maximus would really care though, I have seen him chase rabbits over hillsides and I have seen him fly over them and I know he does not know what's on the other side and neither do I sometimes so I don't think it would really matter to him but indoor events do get me nervous though. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Rajah
10-25-2006, 07:56 AM
We had 2 judges manually judging the jumps.

I know we will be fine indoors for our jumping. We were in Chicago at a pet trade show a couple weekends ago and we did a "demo" jump off a 20' dock into a 30' pool. He was still jumping 18' plus on the short dock but it was just a demo. There was no competition or distance judging.

Hahaha! He has improved a bit on his form, I have some other pics somewhere where he looks more like the typical form, all the legs back, but that picture is awesome! Maralee took it. Now, if only we could get him to leave from the end of the dock for vertical, instead of 5 feet back...........

These are all awesome pics, what a fun thread!!! I love the one of Renegade "catching" the bumper!

Bocephus--I'm not sure which design Maralee ended up using, but I know it was one of yours. That picture ended up making for a really cool sillouette.

Amanda--you need to try again to get some pics of Sarge on, I've seen some of his pics in the past and he and Oskar do jump very similarly! I've noticed dogs of the same breed have the same kind of form in the air, it's funny. Are you coming to Scottsdale? I'm so excited to meet everyone! :D

This is Wooly. He doesn't jump but he comes to all of the events for moral support. I just wanted to share because if it wasn't for this old fart of a dog, I wouldn't have had all of these rescue dogs in my house which would have meant missing out of adopting Kona the flying, brat chessie.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/peppervine/Woolly2.jpg

This is Chase when she was a puppy. She does jump, not too far, but she has a blast doing it. The problem is getting her out of the pool. She was our first dog, we got Wooly so that she would have a friend. But then Kona came to our house and she essentially adopted him. She has been supporting him ever since and they are the best brother and sister duo.

http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q159/peppervine/IM0016852.jpg

I'll post an actual picture of Kona jumping later when I get home. I'm at work, not working right now.

I love the pictures of Maximus! My favorite "kissy" dog! Especially the one of him swinging by the teeth on the bumper! Hilarious! I had a friend with a GSP who would swing by a rope that had knots in it. He'd just jump up and swing by it. And he'd flex his body trying to pull that rope out of the tree. Love the pictures of MickeyD!

I found these of Hope and Sarge from a while back. They were hanging out on the bed, decided to play, and then decided to nap. I took them with a regular old-fashioned 35 mm and there's something about the grainy quality to the pictures as well as the color combinations to them that I like. :)

Amanda

I can make up a real good story  but I do live in San Diego 8) about the only thing I can shoot out here is Clay :( :(

Duck is fresh out of the Freezer :P

Stryker and I have been hanging around the local ret. club. I have been working his force ret. and This is his 1 duck he has picked up! I have named the duck LUCKY.

Lucky lives in the freezer, no water or food needed

If I keep hanging out with these guys and gals I will have a lab by the end of the year! I would love to get a good working Fox Red,,, I heard it is hard to find a good working fox red. Have any of you have a pup out of a dog HillsTop Hayseed or Here comes the sun? I guess this is going to be a repeat breeding... 2 pups running the Darby at a young age.

So that is the story of the duck......

Stryker is running 50 - 200 plus yard marks as singles not doing doubles yet but I do see that in our future.... Zigs and Zags but he gets to the Bumper. They are amazed by his speed and the crazy lines that he takes. As long as he gets to the mark I dont care!

does anyone have Mike Lardy's video tapes?

I would have to guess the last. Her eyes are wide open and focused.

As far as picture taking I wil take about 30 shots to get one I like so it's not easy. The last one I just took the sun was setting and was coming through the window and Maximus was laying on the couch with the sun just hitting his head and I knew I could get a good picture like that. Just always have the camera handy as you never know when the right shot can pop up.

And I gotta show the view from my little 7-1/2 acres of America BLM land on 3 sides. Located at the base of the Cabinet Mountains purchased while enjoying a cold one 14 yrs. ago at the Red Dog saloon. Met Dave, BSted for awhile he mentioned he had 75 acres so we grabbed a sixpac to go, went and checked it out, picked out a piece of the pie then went back to the bar. David wrote the contract up from a paper behind the bar. Oh those were the days............The creek in the last pic runs right through it

Someday I will learn how to post pic's. But until then I'll look at yours.

I use the photobucket site with my digital photos. The VERY first post on this thread gave me directions on how to do it, and believe me... if I can do it, anyone can!

I am meeting with a guy that is working on my website in the next day or two and I have asked him to show me how to post pic's so maybe I will be up and posting soon.

Is that Abraham?

Hi Urs! How are you and that ankle of yours? Hope you are on the mend! :P

Those Blabs are Abraham's "brothers by adoption" Parker & Colby. The only one that has Abraham in it is the one with them all
running through the water. Here are a few of Abe that same day. He is gettting GIANORMOUS, though!

He is the one swimming towards the camera with no tennis ball (haven't mastered the fetching in the water yet  ) in the
first shot and the darkest Blabador in the second picture. Getting so darn BIG...

Who did the cartoon? Do they do this as a business?

No, it was just for fun. I am on another pitbull forum and doing a few for the members and I got lucky and replied before 150 other people did.

Like I said on another board...that shot of Oskar is one of my favorite pictures of any dog jumping off a dock. He is quite the speciman. 8)

Okay, I'll give it a try. Pics of James Dean. Don't know how to change the size...
