Millie is my 2 year old Choc. Lab who loves to run and jump in the water for anything. I am planning on attending the events in Auburn in June but was wondering if anybody would be interested in starting up a local club for Roseville, Rocklin and Auburn dogs. Unfortunatley I don't have a pond or a dock or know of anyone that has one, but maybe we could find a public one. Anyway let me know.

I would love a club for our area. I too have no idea what to do or where to practice. My dog Mystic and I were there on saturday. We are the ones who just stood at the end of the dock and stared at the water!

I was there too and after that i decided i am going to start jumping my dog but i have to train her first and a club would be cool i thought about going to folsom lake on a not so busy day and using to docks to jump off but it would only be good if there are no boats around just a suggestion i actualy am 16 and live a 1/4mile from the lake :D

Great idea! I should have practiced first too. I am sure everyone got a good laugh from me though
I have been wondering if folsom lake has a dock. I would love to do that.
I am 34 and I am a mother of my 5 year old daughter Celine. She love this too! She can't wait to get involved. She is still a bit to young and small yet for our dogs at least.

Yes there is a dock at folsom lake its the granite bay entrance and its an actuall boat dock so it would have to be when there is no traffic but ya if there was a club i would for shure join i think it would be cool.

Hey, wasn't that a GREAT time at SplashDogs this past weekend? I was hit with some kind of virus on Sun. afternoon, so I'm only getting to the boards today.

Anyway, Millie and I had a blast and I know with pracitce she will only get better. Her best jump was 15'10". We started on Thurs. at 10' so practicing definitly does help. She was hesitating at first at the end of the dock, but the more runs she got in, the less fear she had. If we had a place to meet with a dock our dogs would all certainly improve. I just really enjoyed all the dogs and all the people I met.

We will definitly be returning.

:D i will be bringing my golden retriver for the first time in julyshe is 3yrs old and a great swimmer she jumps off trees and picnic tables so all she has to do is jump off the dock but then again we need a place to practice

Jumps out of trees...yikes! But that could be a new sport! Hey if next time you're out at Folsom you could ask the marina people if they would let us practice then maybe we could get something going. Tell them all about SplashDogs and maybe it would be something they would want to help us with. I know that there were a few other people at the Auburn event from Rocklin so maybe we would have enough interest to really get a club started. I have practiced with Millie up at the pond at Railhead park, but you can't beat a real dock. At the July Splash Dogs Millie will have to be a spectator because hopefully she will have a belly full of future splash dog puppies. But we'll be there to cheer everyone on.

Fiona:
I have all the By-laws written and everything you need, welcome letter etc. Barbara Darrow who runs Shasta Splash has sent everything to me the other day with permission to copy it. While Jim and I are very interested in the club our participation level right now has to be minimal due to Jim's treatments. Call me or email me and I will forward this information.

Hi Fiona,

I just sent you a private message about someone who wants to be on the list for club membership.

Hi, all,

I signed the list of folks interested in a local (Auburn, Rocklin, AND Sacramento!) at the recent Splash Dogs event in Auburn, but my e-mail is changing, so I wanted to post here to keep myself on the list. I'm Shari Goldfarb and I can be reached at s.goldfarb@sbcglobal.net

I'm pretty new to dock diving and would love to get some tips from more experienced folks! I've had good luck using the two docks at Lake Natoma (at the State Park boat ramp, right near the CSUS Aquatic Center). I don't know if it's completely "kosher" to use those docks, but so far I haven't gotten told otherwise.

Hi. I took my lab to splashdogs in June up in Auburn and she wouldn't leave the pratice ramp. She loved the pond they had up there but then she got a virus from it and had to be on antibiotics, so I don't want to take her up there anymore. I live in the Sacramento area and was looking for a place to take my dog to see if she would jump. If you guys are starting a club in this area please let me know and I will sign up. Thanks Maygan

Maygan,
That's to bad about your dogs virus. How were you able to verify that it was the pond? Has your dog done any jumping into pools or anywhere else? I'm just asking because my dog Millie has done alot of jumping in that pond and never was sick but since moving into our new house she has gotten many infections from our own pool.
Anyway, I am in charge of heading up the new Splashdogs practice group for this area and I applogize to everyone for the delay. I have been busy breeding my Millie!!!
I hope to get back on track soon and I will include you on our list Maygan.

At our dog park we have little kiddie pools that we are able to empty and clean out. She had been going into those three months before the pond and after and nothing has happened to her except that one time after she went there. That was one of the things the vet had asked me if she had been in was a pond or a creek. She didn't swim very well since it was her first time and she might have swallowed a lot of water. Her head went under a couple of times, so she might have gotten more of the dirty water in her. But she's been fine in the little pools and that's the only water she's around. Are there any places around Folsom Lake that I can take her to get her used to swimming? Thanks

There are some of you that I don't have email address's for and this is the latest email I sent out regarding our future club. Just wanted to keep everyone up to date. Please email me with your email address if I don't have it. See you all in Sacramento!!

Hi SplashDog Group Members of the still unformed Rocklin, Roseville, Auburn and surrounding areas !
I am sorry we still have not formally set anything up yet, but now that I have the email thing going maybe we can get started.
I wanted to make sure you all knew about SplashDogs being in the Sacramento area on the weekend of Jan. 18-21 at the Sportsman's Expo at Cal Expo. Of course if you've been checking the web page you know all about it !!!! www.splashdogs.com there is also a link to the Sportsman's Expo on the site as well.
I know my dog Millie is signed up for a couple of waves. She hasn't done any jumping since the summer so I don't know how she'll do ~~~~~~ I know that last year it was a little chilly there, unlike what we've had at the Auburn events, so dress appropriately and prepare your dogs for the same. If you are going to participate you will receive two entrance passes for the expo but you will have to pay for parking. I'd advise you to register online now if you haven't already. If you are coming to watch (and you can bring your dog) you will have to pay the entrance fee to the expo and parking.
The next step for our club is going to be a questionnaire that I'll email to all of you about what you want out of the club. What days are good to meet, where do you want meet, what are some suggested names for the club, etc.
If anyone is in the Rocklin, Roseville area I practice with Millie at a great park by my house on Wildcat and West Stanford Ranch Rd. Obviously I can't practice the jumping into the pool part with her there, but I can practice the dock wait and stay and the throw. It also has a great wildlife preserve area that I can let her off leash. She loves it. Email if you ever want to get together or my cell is 916-622-4758.
Hope to see you all at Cal Expo,
Fiona

Greetings Auburn folks,

We're visiting up your way on Friday April 6th and Saturday April 7th. We met some of you at the San Mateo event in January.

We would like to know where to go to practice & see if any of you will be coming out. It would be great to connect!

We also plan on coming up for the June & September Splash Dogs events.

cheers,
Louise
& Naika

Hi Louise:
Jim takes the dogs to a pond at Railhead Park. He goes really early as on the weekends they have soccer games there so you can not take the dogs. It is located off of Pacific Ave. here in Auburn.

Hey Sandra, great to see you for a moment at Stockton this weekend!

For Auburn it sounds like we could go down to the site on Friday during the day when it warms up a bit. On Saturday we should just sleep in, let the kids play soccer, take Naika for a hike and then visit Carpe Vino for dinner and wine!

Hey, if you're ever down this way, we have a nice dock to practice on in Redwood Shores. We're even raising money for a big megaphone for Ursula so that she can keep us crazy BADD team members in shape while safely* ensconced in her wheelchair on shore!

cheers,
Louise

Any new details about starting a club? I finally got Lucy into a pool similar to the one that splash dogs use. I have an awesome picture of her jumping in. Hopefully she will jump when they come to Auburn again

Is Tiffany still out there? I spoke to her quite awhile ago and she was very enthusiastic about joining the club. I was hoping to actually pass the torch to her as to getting the club up and going. My summer was swamped, my lab Millie is expecting pups on Sept. 19 (yeah!!!) so I doubt I will get anything going. Sorry guys!!! I have all the contact info if anyone wants to take the lead, and Tiffany if your still out there email or call me!!!

My dog, Dakota, loves water!!!!! He has dove off of a dock at Eagle Lake where we have a vacation home AND he loves diving into our pool! I am planning on taking him to Splash Dogs (Sacramento) tomorrow (Sunday). I know he'll just love it and we would be excited members of a Sacramento area (Roseville, rocklin) club. Soooo, count us in!! I also don't have access to a dock . . .

Hi everyone! I live in Sac area. I'm a new member to splash dog, but heavily involved in agility & herding. My dog trainer has put in a practice pond with a dock at her facility in Pleasant Grove. It's got a 35 ft dock. The pond is 5 1/2ft deep & 80 ft long. She's looking for someone to train dogs. Anyone in the area know of someone?? We're also having a fun match on March 29. Message me for details.

My dog Banjo is an athletic 5 year old yellow lab. He loves to go swimming in lakes so I think he would do very well jumping.

Please let me know if a local club was ever established because we would be interested in joining!

Thanks,
Nicole
