Questions about LA County fair

Hi,
I am very interested in registering my dog in the Splash Dogs dock diving at the LA county fair. This would be our first time so I have a few questions. I see that it says to bring a crate for your dog...is this absolutely necessary? We don't have crates and don't want to go buy them just for this. There would be two of us there so we would be able to trade off taking him. Is this ok? My second question relates to registration. It says we can register online up to 24 hours in advance...but then I see that admission tickets are sent in the mail. If I sign up today (Wed.) for this Friday will I be able to get my tickets in time in the mail or is there some other way to get them? And my last question is that we have a second dog who we would like to bring but he is not as enthusiastic about jumping off of docks :) Are there ususally some dogs that are a little shy about the sport and trying it for the first time?

I can answer your dogs questions, but not the registration / ticket question.
We just attended for last weekend, and we had no crate. It was fine.
There were 2 of us also, and we traded off dog-watch.
We brought 2 foldup chairs and a double-wide beach towel for our dog to lay on.
The area where participants hang out is grassy, semi-hilly, and has some large trees for shade.
So, we were able to adjust our chair position to stay in the shade.
Bring water for your dog, something for him to lay on, as there were ants in the grass.
Shy dog, yes, there are often some just trying it out & not so sure about it.
You can pay $10 for him to just practice, and not compete. Maybe the other will help coax him into it, also.
The dock is open for practice all day, between the scheduled jump times, so you can have at it for practice & fun purposes.
And there will be experienced jump people there more than happy to help you & your dog out. Its always a really nice, fun, congenial group of folks.

Apparently, Ursula (Sassy Girl) can make arrangements for your tickets to be held for you at the gate.

Glad to hear you are interested in joining us at the LA County Fair!

Closing dates for the weekly events are below. All participants must be registered by the closing date specified below for each week. Once registration closes for the specified week, an email w/event logistics will be sent to the registered participants. Additionally, entry tickets and parking passes will be mailed to the address on your registration (Saturday). If you do not receive your entry tickets by the first day you are expected to attend the event, you can contact me at 408-981-6372 and I will arrange to get them to you when you arrive.

Urs, I registered for this Friday several days ago and have not recieved my parking pass in the mail.

If I just give them my name and show an old one do you think I will get in?

Sarah - passes for Week 2 are at the Gate 1 in the Administration building. You should pick that up first before coming to Gate 19...

Week 3 - 5 will be mailed, as the first week was. Week 2 was put at the Administration office because of the Holiday. Looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow!
