I have a few questions about getting sponsors and possibly donations for cancer research.

First, a little background. I lost my first lab, Ace, to cancer several years ago, it was devastating. And now recently, I myself have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm on the mend and almost done with radiation, yay!

Kylie absolutely LOVES Splash Dogs. A couple of years ago I had bought her a bright green collar from Collars for Cures at the pet expo, and she wears it every event. 50% of the purchase price goes to the American Association for Cancer Research. But I want to help out while doing something we both love, and see if we get have them as sponsors. I also want to get together with Chase Away Canine Cancer and include them. Would it be inappropriate to collect donations at a Splash Dog event?

We're not big time, we only do a few of the local events: Bass Pro, Pet Expo, and now the LA Fair. I'm on my own and make do with what I have. But this is sooooo much fun! I think Kylie likes this better than pheasant hunting!

Anyway, any ideas or suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

Tamale Lady,

Contact Linda at lindahet@sbcglobal.net . Linda's dog Tessa is a cancer survivor and Linda is huge supporter of Chase. She would be happy to point you in the right direction and give you any information you may need.

Even though Chase is affiliated with another dock diving group, my understanding is that all proceeds go to Chase. To answer you question if it's appropriate..........absolutely!

O.C Pet Expo and the L.A. County Fair are great venues and would definitely bring in huge donations.

I have personally lost two very young dogs and my 50 year old Father to cancer. Thank you, for bringing this to everyone's attention.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you fight your own battle.

Ms. Talla Dega is so thankful you posted this question. Your ears may have been ringing.

Dega & I live here in San Jose, and are working on our own campaign right now with more local Canine Cancer Researching Foundations.

What my experience has been is that we ALL make the difference!!! It is almost as if I don't know any body that has not had a dog affected by this. 1 in 3 is the average of how many dogs are diagnosed.

Splash Dogs has been more than supportive to me & my cancer surviving lab. Dega & I focus on promoting awareness and so do they.

We love Chase Away K9 Cancer as much as we love We Are The Cure from National Canine Cancer Foundation. There is a large group of different wonderful people that have gathered ways and named chapters that collect funds. The greatest is when every penny, every dollar goes to 100% grants.

I have been personally supported by both sides and I cannot thank you enough for wanting to make a difference. I encourage you to get on line and research all the fantastic assoc. out there. Knowledge is power.

This is what ALL OF us are about. No doubt in my mind...........

Thanks again for your honest intention and question.
