Thank you so much for the information. Bill and I have been very worried that we hadn't heard back from her since we got home. JJ, we're wishing you a very speedy recovery! We've sent over flowers from Bill, myself and all her friends at RF Revolution. Sandra, I sent you an email to see if there is anything we can do to help here locally, either for JJ or the dogs.

Thanks!
Liz

I just got off the phone with JJ and she has given me permission for this update. She had emergency surgery on Monday night on her knee. They cleaned it out and she has MRSA which is a very serious staph infection that is resistant to antibiotics. She is on IV antibiotics and will be probably hospitalized for 6-8 weeks. As you can imagine her spirits are somewhat low with the fact of such a long hospitalization and of course the holidays coming up. I asked her if there was a care package we could put together for her and she said she likes to read Dick Francis novels and likes word scrambles. She is not into crossword puzzles, needlepoint and things like that. She also likes any kind of magazines.
I asked her if the hospital has a wireless connection as I can get her a laptop to use. So she will check on that.
Please let us keep her in our thoughts and prayers as she is pretty sick and of course very worried.
I will keep everyone updated as to her progress. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me directly.

WOW Sandra. However, even in the worst news, I can hear JJ's humor. We must do what we can for her to keep her in good spirits.

Where is she? Send me a home e-mail. Is there anything people local to her can do to help her w/the dog group?

Any word when they will release her to go home? Sure hope she will be so before next Thursday.

If not, please holler as I can't fathom spending a Thanksgiving day in a hospital on IV's! I could arrange to have a home cooked meal taken to her if she has to, sure hope not though.

Anyways, Dega & I are sending you a package to add to the care package. During Dega's cancer/amputation journey...it was Team Mickey D that came through for us w/the most FANTASTIC fun loving and full of genuine care package to my door.

I would love to pay that forward to another special person.

Love me & Dega

Just wanted to give everyone and update on JJ. Spoke to her yesterday and her spirits remain good! Liz, from her flyball team, brought her all kinds of goodies for Thanksgiving!
JJ may be released some time this week and continue with the IV antibiotics at home. Let's continue to keep her in our thoughts and prayers...cause it's working!
Give her a call she would love to hear from you. She is enjoying the cards and well wishes!

I spoke with JJ this morning and she has had a little setback. She started vomiting the other day and they did some further tests which where negative. I guess it was due to some medication they had her on as they have stopped those meds and the vomiting has stopped. They are still working on the chance that she can be released but I don't think that is going to happen in the next few days. Her spirits remain good and she is enjoying the cards...so let's keep them coming.
She finally got my care package which took an incredible 10 days for her to receive. I know Gianna sent one also but she still has not received that one! Mail is slow at the hospital, I guess!

Thanks for the update, Sandra! I was happy to see how spunky JJ was on Thursday when I stopped by. She is about as tough as they come and I have no doubt she'll get past this latest setback. Thanks again for the update! I haven't had a chance to call yet this week!

Here is the latest on JJ. Just got off the phone with her. Please continue with the get well cards as she is really having a rough time. You know when your in a hospital bed your always thinking you want to go home and you will be better, well it doesn't always work that way. She has to go for infusions daily, her Dad drives her and she has to use a walker and wheelchair. She is completely exhausted with just the simplest of tasks.
When you feeling so bad a simple card can bring a smile to your face so please think of her and send one off.
Gianna: She never did get your package so look for it to come back to you.
Stacie: She never got any of your cards so they may come back to you.
Her home address is on this thread.
Thanks for caring.
Sandra
Please send her a smile!

I spoke to JJ this morning and she is so thankful for all of the cards! She said he really breaks up the monotony! So let's keep them rolling in for her.
The doctor said it will be months before she can walk! Her Dad takes her in daily for her IV antibiotics and it is really difficult with the walker/wheelchair and snow! She really wants to thank everyone but is not able to get up to get on her computer.
A reminder of her address so you can keep those happy thoughts to her:

Gianna: She did get your care package
Stacie: She never did get your card
Thanks again everyone who has been so kind to send her get well wishes, she truly appreciates it.

Sandra, thanks for being JJ's hands on the computer with your e-updates! It seems like so little that we can do far away, but glad the cards are helping.

Whenever a friend or family member has a serious health issue, it's such a poignant reminder for me to appreciate good times and good health including something often taken for granted like walking. Guess I better stop griping about my little aches and pains. I'm off now to enjoy my mobility by heading to the barn to see my horses and do barn chores in the mud (which I'll be thankful that I can do!)

Hey Everybody,
Just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the cards and packages. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get online but still not feeling that great. Thanks again to everyone who took some time out of this busy holiday season to think of me. It really lifted my spirits. I hope everybody has a very happy holiday season. Once again I am proud to be part of the splashdog family.
