Hi Dock Diving Lovers........
The past week, I have received a few private e-mails from others regarding their thoughts on some of my recent postings. Out of respect for people’s time and energy to give me their honest view, I create this post....
For those who don't know me, I am a dock diving lover with my 3 legged lab. She sure did not start that way, but unfortunately cancer attacked her too.
As a survivor we have been sitting here for the last year and a half thinking of ways we could be capable of making a difference. She has changed my life and many others now. All we want to do is to join in the fight for a cancer cure for our canine companions.
We've hit some road blocks with various associations, but never felt discouraged. Just knew that one day, something would come back around to Dega and she'd get her opportunity to that could be hers. She deserves it in my bias opinion for her spirit has shown nothing but high truth to living life to the fullest.
It rips my heart out to hear about the amount of dogs Dega & I have come to see and go within the short time we have joined in on this dock diving fun.
Dega & I don't live life to compete in anything anywhere anytime. It has never been part of our choice of things to do together. We live a construction related life at work and the rest of the time is devoted to hunting, camping, and outdoor adventures.
When we met Splash Dogs 4 years ago we saw a lot of laughter and no judgment on any body that showed up in line and boy was that line HUGE!! .
More so, the hugest thing that made me go to my first event (in Auburn) was the team of people and family audience that were all willing to help you no matter who you were, what your dog was, etc. People walked away happier than kings with ribbons and the chance to have so much fun with their family and friends.
Competition is a wicked part of us human beings and I am guilty of it just like many others. We can corrupt the most innocent fun just by becoming competitive. It never seems to really bring anything very valuable to life that is more than just monetary. So I stay away from it........
I am frustrated as a dock diving participant right now, and I will apologize to any body I may have offended.
What I know is that I believe in what I believe in. What I have posted about Splash Dogs, Tony, "the Family", and all the dedicated Teams is because I believe they deserve some credit. It's because I want new comers who wonder how old their pup needs to be to come have fun, that we are awesome.........because we are.
That does not mean that others are NOT! I personally spend a lot of time in life trying to make sure the people who have impacted my life know that I APPRECIATE them. Ms. Talla Dega is here today because of the.......
"DOCK DIVING FAMILY"
It doesn't matter to my Dega whether she jumps as Splash Dogs, Dock Dogs, SRS, or any other dock diving association with their rules. All Dega cares about is being there to jump.
Me too guys. The only difference is whether you join in a great competition at other dock diving events or pop your EZ up and BBQ at Splash Dogs events, the point is we all still have the right to stand behind those who bring the environment (by our own individual definitions) that the owners can afford, enjoy, make it too, work with their schedule.......ETC.
For me the atmosphere is what brings me & Dega to book it. Splash Dogs for me brings me that atmosphere every time. There is nothing wrong with this and I hope this never changes.
Respectfully,
Gianna
