I hope this is ok with John and Monica, but I think it is important to let everyone know that one of the most amazing canines I have ever met in my life passed away last Thursday. A few of you got to meet this great team from Twin Falls, ID during their 1+ years in the sport. I can't recall shedding more tears over a past dog not my own. We found out a few months ago that Dekes only had a half of one functioning kidney, likely as a result from roaming the SW Idaho desert lost before John saved his life. Dekes lived life like a king the remaining few months of his life. Fishing, horseback riding with Mon, swimming, duck and dove hunting, and of course dock jumping. The wonderful family at Splash Dogs are among the few who can truly understand the loss that John and Monica are attempting to cope with. They will want Dekes to be remembered as he was in his prime, a competitive and peaceful spirit loved by all. You will get through this guys.

John and I are so blessed to have met the people we have through Splash Dogs and therefore through Dekes. That darn dog has brought us so much joy and friendship that we truly believe he was an angel in disguise when John found him in the middle of no where. His paw prints we know are not just left on our hearts but on the hearts of many others. I always said he was "one in a million" and though he was only here for a short while, he gave a lifetime of memories. Thank you to everyone for their condolences. This has been extremely difficult but having you in our corner helps a lot. The first rule of Splash Dogs is to Have Fun and Dekes always managed to obey that rule. May we remember that and take that with us through our lives.

Sincerely;

John, Monica, Cody, Jessie, Dekes (RIP)

We never had the pleasure of meeting Dekes, but it sounds like he was an amazing dog, companion and family member.

Feel comfort in the fact that you gave him the best year of his life. The pain of you loss will slowly go away.........your wonderful memories of Dekes will last forever.

R.I.P. Dekes.

One of the best dogs we had the honor to be around. Always happy and ready to play. You will always be remembered.

Here are a few pics I have of John, Monica and of course Dekes for everyone to see this wonderful dog in action. For those unsure if they saw this great dog he was at Cyno this year and jumped in the extreme division.

A huge loss to the Splash Dogs family. I met Dekes and the Harrison's last year in Sacramento and also got to see this great boy jump at Cyno. John and Monica, I am truly so very sorry...I know what it is like to lose your beloved friend and to lose them suddenly is so tramatic. I hope you find peace in your memories of Deke's and comfort in all the joy he brought to your lives....

Godspeed Dekes.....

Tang and I also had the pleasure of meeting Dekes at Cyno. What an inspiration he was. I was moved by how connected he clearly was to both John and Monica, a caliber of which you rarely see. I'm grateful for having met him and know that he is now whole and has sprouted wings to watch over the Harrison family.

Here are a couple of shots we got of him at Cyno.
