How far in the air has your dog gone

I was intrigued with Wendy's stats. I got to wondering how far Mickey D's total jumps were. So, it's a rainey Sunday and with nothing better to do, except take care of Sandra, I added them up. I came up with 2,494' but doesn't include all of the DD waves he was in, so I figure he has jumped or flown through the air close to a half mile. That's about a year and a half of jumping. Now I guess we will be looking to join the one mile club. Maybe their should be medals, like for a quarter mile, a half, and 3/4 and 1 mile. Well, see what you can acomplish when you are bored. Using the Splashdogs DB, I ran this same statistic - following were the top 10 dogs for total distance. (Sandra, I came up with a slightly lower number for MickeyD - I'm still trying to get all the data 100% cleaned up - would you mind sending me the data you have for MickeyD so I can see if I'm missing something?). I've left the inches off for simplicity...

Wow! this is a pretty cool way to look at distances....5280 would make a mile high, so Mickey D is almost half way there! Very cool!

Actually Jim did that stat. He said he did all of his events that's why the number is different.

Are you counting both jumps in the splash? Or just the best jump per splash?
Are you also counting from the entire database? Or just from one year's worth?

Ah, I just did the best jump from the wave - guess technically I should do both jumps. I did use all data from all splash dogs events 2005-now

Wendy, I totaled all of his jumps as I was curious what the total distance would be. Probably people like Tom Dropnik who have been in the sport since the beginning may even have further distances for their dogs. Jim

OK, I redid the query adding up all the jumps (that said, there were a few events in 2005 where they did 3 jumps per dog in the wave and because of how I built the database I had to drop one of the jumps)
