We are pleased to announce that the 2007 Splash Dogs World Championships will be held at Cynosports, Nov 1-4, 2007 in Scottsdale, AZ this year.

You will need to qualify for the championship this year.

To qualify, a dog/handler team must complete 5 jumps at a Splash Dogs event in 2007 in a division (splash, junior, senior, pro, extreme). If a dog qualifies in multiple divisions, they will only be eligible in the highest division that they have 5 jumps in 2007.

You will also have the opportunity to qualify at Cynosports during the first few days of the event.

The championship jumps will be held on Sunday (subject to change). Format to be announced. Preregistration will be required (will be available closer to the event)

Any titles from the past count correct? Not for just this year?

To qualify for 2007 nationals you need 5 jumps in a division in 2007 (titles and jumps from earlier years do not count towards qualifying).

This will help make sure dogs have been active in the current year and also account for dogs who are jumping in a different division this year than in prior years due to age or injury.

Does this answer your question?

So is Cynosport going to be Nationals or World Championships?

It is officially a "world championship". I posted it as nationals and then tony pointed out that Cynosports is a world championships so the splash dogs event should correspond...

We welcome competitors from any country, so no reason to limit it!

I sure wish I could make this event. I've heard so much about it.

Since this is a "world championship", doesn't that make the winner a "World Champion"?? (For those that know what I'm talking about) LOL

oh gosh, let's not start this here....I think most of us know there are differences between the organizations and personally, I hold each of their world championships differently in my mind as I do the different flyball, frisbee, weight pull, conformation and agility organization championships. Some dock jumping people seem to be a little behind the times in dealing with multiple sanctioning organizations. It seems that those that have prior dog sport experience in other venues seem to understand it is different.

You can call me World Champion or National Champion.......it doesn't matter to me! I would answer to either....but of course you would be fibbing if you called me either one of those!! Maybe someday....

Dave - how is Christy's ankle? I'm still in a walking cast, doesn't seem I'll be getting out of it for a while yet.

Me and the Magster will be there with some of our local jumping friends. We are from AZ so we can't wait for this contest! It is going to be a great weekend of competition and fun. If anyone comes out early give me a call or a E-mail. We can meet out at Cosmo dog park and do some jumping off the dock there with some of the locals. Our jumping club should be in full swing by then.

Hey Urs,
Christy is doing fine. She also is still in a walking cast, and started therapy last week.. I guess ankle injuries have longer turnaround than knees, huh. We are girding up our loins to drive to Vail at the end of the month. Should be a good one. Wish us luck. See you all soon.

If I am reading the criteria correctly only titles earned in 2007 will be allowed to compete at Cyno?

Sassy Girl
05-25-2007, 09:41 AM
I believe that is correct. Basically, the title needs to be earned in 2007. From what I know - and I am by all means not the expert, but it will be pretty easy to earn as there are several events prior to the Championships and if you come out with a new dog to Cynosports there are enough waves if you need to accumulate the title that weekend for Sunday's Championships.

Wendy is at an agility trial this weekend, so not sure if she'll be online at all, but I believe this is correct from the discussions we've had on it.

November?? I think my schedule is fairly open then...but I'll have to check and see if the other half has any plans....

Watching the other dog sports there is a lot of fun too! Did someone say lure-coursing? I'd love to see if Hope would like that! Poor Princess Noodle, we're trying to find her a nitche of her own. ;-)

I was at Cynosports back in 2004 and it was great fun! Sarge fell in love there with a neutered chinese-crested that was wearing a snowsuit! I think Sarge thought the dog was from WI! ;-)

Maybe we should look for hotel and get a block of rooms...

Last year we stayed at The La Quinta Inn and Suites Scottsdale. Nice clean place, free breakfast and only 4 exits away from the event. If this hotel is on your list it might be wise to book early as the hotel was heavily populated with Cynosport dogs.

Yes you are brian. We want the world championships for a given year to reflect dogs who have been active in competition that year.

Sadie and I may try to get out there this year. It sounds like alot of fun.

Amanda, I love your story about Sarge and the Chinese Crested! That's too funny! What I remember about Cynosports in 2005 was there were so many agility people wearing knee braces and ace bandages! And with my twice-surgically-repaired ankle, I'd never make it!

We'll be there. Randy's going to be jumping Tessa since my PB with her is around 12-feet...that was before she went nuts in the O.C.!

So, what if you earned your title in 2006, and you've had 5 jumps in that same division in 2007? You wouldn't earn another title in 2007, but would that still qualify you for Worlds? So it's 5 JUMPS in 2007, but not necessarily a TITLE, if you already have one from a previous year?

renegade
05-26-2007, 03:29 PM
Linda is correct - think of it like a 2007 "title" even though we don't track titles by year.

Dunkin & Phoebe are looking forward to being there. Last year we stayed at the Best Western only a couple minutes away from Westworld and it was great. We ended up with a suite with a bedroom and living room + frig & micro. Definitely would recommend it again!

See ya there!

Hi Greg,

Sounds like a great idea! Look forward to seeing you and Sierra, as well. Now, you have to recruit Brian and Terry. I will have to recruit my Sis, Jen.

Oh and of course, add in a couple of old dancing guys, a cool happy and generous bartender, some good dance music and a BIG STRONG ANGRY Samoan guy to make it completehttp://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s271/ROCKTHEDOCK/SmileFaceIcon.gif

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am still trying to learn all the rules to the titles and such. When we see the results from the Wags event, if his best jump from at least four waves were in the 15' - 19'11'' division, does that mean he achieved his Senior title? If so, does that mean if we can make it to at least one more event and he jumps at least once more in that same division, then we could qualify to attend this event in November?

Hi All,

I'm trying to figure out the how the title works too... Does every group make it to the nationals? Does the splash group count? At Wags, Solo jumped into the Jr. group but his previous jumps were in 'splash'. Does this mean he has to continue in the Jr. group to be invited to nationals?

BTW - We'll be at the Solano Fairgrounds this weekend. See you guys then!

You will have to have 5 jumps in the same category for the 2007 season to compete at World's.
