Hey Guys,
I'm sure your all busy having a great time but we here at home would love to hear what's going on. When you get a chance please post all those wonderful details that we are missing out on. Thanks
JJ and crew
At least I have a few hours of practice to take my mind of all the fun I'm missing down there.

Hi JJ:
Just got off the phone with Shari Robinson she said Henry ripped off a 26' 6" (not sure of the inch part...but a huge jump!) Way to go Tang! Shari is sitting in second with Nevada at around 24' Way to go Shari. I hear it's hot and humid! Dah like were not suffering here with 108 degree weather! They are all having a great time! More to come......

A new definition for the word fun; WAGS! Yes the dogs are jumping big and I think it is relatively safe to say that Henry has the longest jump recorded west of the Mississippi. A few other dogs have bragging rights coming for their big jumps. We also had a Bloodhound set the record for his breed and 16 lapdogs jumping for ribbons. This weekend all the jumps were for the children.

The Make-A-Wish children are really enjoying themselves. Watching and helping these kids on the dock is a priceless, teary eyed moment. Mark, Tony and the posse of volunteers has once again made the Wags For Wishes event a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.

The finals were great. Juniors, lapdog, open and pro all had some really great jumps. Salix, Kona, Henry and Nevada battled out the top 4 in the pro finals. Nevada gave the 3 Chessies a good fight with Mr. Henry leading the way as the top dog of the event. Congrats to everyone and keep those dogs flying high.

Stay tuned for more info and some outstanding photos from the Sardo Studio.

WOW!!!! What a weekend. I'm am absolutely exhausted, but this by far was the biggest event in dock jumping history. We had 150 dogs compete this weekend and every wave had 45 to 50 dogs, this isn't including the hundreds of people that signed up for practice. All the volunteers were awesome this weekend, keeping everything running smoothly with the amount of people we had jumping. This event definitely brought the splashdogs family closer and it was the greatest joy to see all the make a wish kids jumping the dogs. Pictures will be posted later today as it will take some time to upload all the photos from this weekend.

1ST place-Tang and henry 25'8
2nd place- Tracy and Kona 25'7
3rd place- Shari and Nevada
4th place- Dave and Salix

Nevada and Salix tied their first jump with a 24'1 and and Shari beat him out with the 2nd jump which I don't remember the scores to.

We want to thank all of the volunteers especially those working the registration tent. You were patient with and allowed us to show off not only our competitors but also our dogs available for adoption as well as some of our past adoptees who came to lend us their support.

Big Time Ditto to what Brian said. I too am exhausted, but that GOOD kind of exhausted. The volunteers were amazing. This event was so huge, that you barely sat down all weekend.

Ursula and Wendy set the rules and we FOLLOWED them. They had a plan and it worked.
At 9am you had to Check In for the 10am Wave #1
At 9:45 you had to Check In for the Handlers Meeting for the 10am Wave #1
At 10am, Wave # 1 started with FOUR SEPARATE HEATS per Wave which were running almost a full 2 hours.
At 11am, DURING the 2nd Heat of Wave #1, you would Check In for Wave #2
At 11:45am, DURING the 4th heat of Wave #1, we would have the Handlers Meeting for Wave #2
At 12:00 noon, as soon as Wave #1 ended, Wave #2 would start
Back to back to back to back all three days. NEVER stopped.

10 Waves with an average of 50 dogs per Wave at about 100 jumps per Wave, PLUS the Junior, Lap Dog, Open, and Pro Finals for a total of about 1,100 Competitive jumps!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hectic, wild, exhausting, far less confusing than you would think, and AMAZING FUN.

And to you Brian, I thought I had a lot of energy, but you are in a league of your own. I think Brian handled about 10 DIFFERENT dogs throught the weekend. ALL DAY LONG, you would hear over the announcer's speakers "Now on the dock is Brian Sardo with.....(fill in the blank)". He jumped his own dog, plus Melissa's dogs, Ursula's dogs, Wendy's dogs, and a couple of other people's dogs. AND, that is not all, as soon as he would jump a dog, he would go volunteer somewhere else until called up to the dock to jump another dog. And, why didn't Melissa amd Ursula and Wendy jump their own dogs? Because they were VOLUNTEERING the whole time.

Great time, great bonding experience with our dogs and EACH OTHER, and raised a lot of money for Make a Wish. Thanks to all the volunteers that made this happen including Mark and Tony and Randy and Mike (computer scorer and Ursula's personal foot massager), Ursula, Melissa, Wendy, Brian, Linda, Randy, Mike, Craig, Vince, Cindy, Marilyn, Tang, David, etc etc etc etc ...

I also want to thank everyone for a wonderful, wonderful weekend of fun.....it was the best ever.....thanks everyone that did not mind stepping over Sadie while I helped in the registration booth...as she has to be by mommies side always.

Maybe at the next event she will be back to her normal self and not be made at me for making her practice her sit/stays on the practice dock. I guess she showed me who is boss (as if we didn't already know).....in her words "ok mom I can sit/stay watch......jump hmmmm whats that...you told me to sit/stay....I'll jump when I'm ready now" :-)

I'm just really glad she jumped for the "the make a wish child" that we got to host....that made my day....I don't care if she ever jumps again as long as she jumped for Olivia...that made my day.

Thank you to everyone again,
Cindy & Sadie

It was a long weekend but worth every aching bone and muscle in my body. KUDOS to all of you, the Splash Dogs Family! Whether your an old timer or a newbie, you all contributed in your own way to make this past weekend a huge success! Whether you were wrangling, working registration, selling merchandise, handing out drinks to volunteers, running to find Wendy or I, announcing, judging, setting up, tearing down, massaging backs (or fee), hosting a child, or jumping your dog, you are all special.

Thank you all for the wonderful weekend and memories! And Mark - I finally did get away from the venue on Sunday morning, got to take my lil guys to herding and lure coursing while Gunner slept in the van.

Linda - I know what you mean - at one point on Saturday afternoon I lost it as I was announcing. Mike thank goodness took over while I composed myself. The children of Make A Wish are so inspirational and so brave...talk about a reality check.

Linda,

No worries....I was right there drying my own eyes....I'm the same way when I see those amazing kids being so strong and brave...I'm getting the chills just writing this and thinking about them, either its talk about K9 cancer where alot of us can relate to or it's those amazing kids, it gets me every time.

Sadie and I do some therapy work with Olive Crest Abused Childrens home and it gets me every time...seeing such young precious kids....knowing what they must have gone thru to be taken away from their families....it just breaks my heart.

See you soon,
Cindy & Sadie

By the way, I've had time to process the results (will get it emailed to our webmaster in the morning) and we scored 892 jumps for wags!

Thanks a ton to Mike who did most of the judging for us!
