That was a nice tribute to Gabe. Really nice. I remember us talking about them in Roseburg, and our memories of Cynosports 2005. I'm still stunned. I'm having problems seeing the pictures of Gabe. Is it just me?

Also for a tribute to Gabe....all of the funds raised for the Chase Away K9 Cancer that were collected at the Reno event will be going in as a donation in the name of Gabe!

A huge thanks to Wendy, JJ and Dave Drake for promoting the heck out of the Chase during Saturday and Sunday. Also a big thank you to those of you who walked the crowd with your dogs wearing the Chase Away Donation Vests!

Also I would like to thank the folks from the Tamarack Junction! Besides their sponship, they are taking the Chase Away information and going to be promoting it on their website and helping where they can. They too lost two dogs to cancer!

It was also great seeing Todd and Bolt on the Dock jumping big. They just missed the top 4 in the pro finals and ended up in 5th! The big smile was great to see from Todd!!!!!

A great event!! Thanks Everyone!!

Wow! What a great job, Dave, and everyone at the Reno event to raise money in memory of a great dog, Gabe. I'm totally blown away by Todd getting back up on the dock so soon. That's a testimony to his strength of character, and love for this sport. Way to go, Todd!

The Chase campaign in Reno wasn't any of my doing! It was JJ that got all the information from Cera, then Wendy, JJ and Dave Drake promoted the heck out of it! They all did a great job!! And I do have to say...whoever came up with the Vest idea was a genius!! That works so great!!! We should always have two dogs walking the crowds at each event! Amazing how it adds up.

It is great to be a part of it, however there are many, many people all across the country getting the word out now!!

So far, so good....Chloe is doing fine. No signs of cough. Took her to vet today just in case since we are traveling on Wednesday. He said it didn't appear that she was going to be affected. However, Little Chloe Noir came down with it! She too is on antibiotics. Appears to be getting better. Vet felt the dogs either picked it up in the water or around the dock somewhere. Bart, as LG is really isn't in contact with the other pups, I think he may be right. I didn't see or hear any pups with issues there...but ya never know!

LG is in our thoughts and prayers also!!

Dave and please don't let me catch the cough Chloe!!

Poor guy! :( I hope he feels better SOON! And for the others who were affected too!

As a veterinarian, I always put dogs on Doxy for kennel cough-type cases. It is the antibiotic of choice when dealing with these situations. It helps prevent secondary bacterial infections, but as a side note, it does little, if anything, to resolve the cough. Unless the cough is severe, I usually do not recommend a cough suppressant. Reason being that if there is some phlegm or mucous in the lungs, I want the dogs to cough that out! :) As it says in the article, it really is mostly a self-limiting disease. Dogs are usually contagious for several weeks, however.

Usually the incubation period for this is 1-2 weeks, so if someone's dog was in the incubation stage, they might bring their dog to an event and not even realize that there is a problem. Also, the organism that causes kennel cough lives in the respiratory systems of all dogs all the time. Sometimes all it takes is a little stress or exposure to one of the other culprits and your dog starts coughing! It is very frustrating, for sure!

I sure hope everyone feels better soon! Oh, and one other thing... if your dog is on Doxy, make sure that they either drink some water or follow it with a treat after giving the medication. It doesn't happen very often, but if the Doxy pill gets stuck in the throat, it can cause so much irritation that it can cause a stricture or narrowing of the throat permanently!

Get well wishes to everyone from Team Blabador!!:D

this is one of the most common afflictions in dogs. it's essentially a cold but left untreated can develop into pneumonia. i'm not sure i remember the last dog we pulled from a shelter that did not have some form of kc. often it's treated with clavamox but recent strains have withstood the drug and doxy is a better remedy. i have a load on hand at all times. dogs can often avoid catching it by getting an annual bordetella vaccination. because of all the kc that comes through my house, kona and chase get this vaccination bi-annually and luckily have never gotten it (over 60 dogs later). hope LG's feeling better.

MickeyD'sMom

Tracy:
Thanks for that information. Recently our vet increased the vac bi-annually also due to the fact we attend so many events. Maybe worth checking with your vet.

Definition of Trinity:

The union of three persons (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost) in one Godhead [Doghead], so that all the three are one God as to substance, but three persons as to individuality.
Any union of three in one; three units treated as one; a triad, as the Hindu trinity, or Trimurti.
Any symbol of the Trinity employed in Christian art, especially the triangle.

"The Doctrine of the Trinity teaches that within the unity of the one Godhead there are three separate persons [dogs] who are coequal in power, nature, and eternity."

Well, Waldo Richardson, you've got the wrong tree! ;-)
Not much of an outdoorsman, huh? You'll have to work harder than that.

It's just not the TREE it's the environment around the tree that helps to define it.

deedclemdogg
10-13-2007, 06:42 PM
Although the TREE you found looks like the same tree in other pictures--like the one below--look familiar? But you've still got the wrong tree. You're going to have to drive farther than that! LOL

"A big part of the problem in the world today is that we've lost our connection with nature. We're so concerned with making a buck, and I'm not saying that I haven't been prey to this myself. We are getting walled in, drinking bottled water, and we can't see the forest for the trees."
