Remembering Kiki

It is with severely broken heart that I wish to inform those of you that know Kiki and appreciate what a special dog he is, that Kiki was killed by a car a few hours ago. Chika, Erika, and I were on a business trip in New Hampshire and decided to stay a little later and celebrate the conclusion of a product that we developed and are now bringing to market. Our backyard is completely fenced in and we normally don't have any problems. Kiki, Lala, and Luna usually stay in the house and use the dog door to run around on the 3/4 acres of woods that are fenced in. Unfortunately, for us Luna has a tendancy to bark when it gets dark and we aren't home. My next door neighbor, thought that he would put them in the downstairs and close the dog door. When he opened the gate, Kiki and Luna bolted to go play. He said that he couldn't find them so he left the gate open if they came back. When we got home I received a call from the police that Kiki had been hit and was lying on long ridge road. My heart really goes out to the Murphy's , Jon Stapleton and Andrea, and all of you that have lost your loved ones. I haven't stopped crying and wish that I could start this day all over. I hope that all of you that have competed with Kiki will remember him fondly. There is nothing that he loved more than to play and make me happy. I will miss him more than I could ever express. Where ever you are I love you. Chris

I met Chris and Kiki in early 2004 and I had the pleasure of competing against such an incredible team several times. I got to be there to watch Kiki jump his 5th Elite jump to earn him an Elite title--at that time there were only 4 other dogs to have one. Chris is a kind friend who is always generous, true and has a ton of integrity. He has always been an icon and hero in the sport to Sarge and I. Kiki was an amazing dog--who got to do a lot of the things that we all dream our dogs can do in this sport. I know I am very grieved by the loss of such a pioneer in the sport and a great GREAT dog! My heart and prayers are with Chris, Chika and Erika in their grief and healing.

Here's some pictures I found--they're from the Hamburg, PA Cabela's event in the fall of 2004. (there's even a "points for the catch")

Oh My God, I'm so sorry for your loss. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Kiki ...but I can feel your pain. I'm in tears, I'm so sorry. Please hang in there and remember what love you shared with him and the memories....I'm sitting here looking at Sadie and I just could not imagine loosing her. I've lost others in the past and it's never easy.

My heart goes out to you and your family
