Hello,

We have a very fit yellow lab. he's male 70 lbs 2 years old. He loves to jump in the pool, we have a platform that he jumps from thats about 2 feet high. From what i've measured he can jump quite far about 15-20 ft. However I think he can do better because most of his jumps are straight at the water. I would like to know if anyone can give me training advice to help him jump higher rather then straight at the water. I've tried to throw the ball higher but he waits for it to hit the water then jumps. Any Advice would be helpful, and we'll see you all in Scottsdale in November

I'll make this real easy for you. Take the extender that your pool brush connects to, and hang that ball from the end of it. Get up on the platform, and hang that ball out over the pool. Practice having your pup retrieve it from the end of the extender. Just make sure that there is an easy release from the extender so your dogs head doesn't get yanked from grabbing the ball.

Wow thanks for the advice, here is a quick vid of him jumpin' in the pool. Right now does he stand a chance for qualifying? It's hard to measure from the pool, but maybe you'll have a judgment from looking at the vid. Thanks again for all your help.

HOLY COW!!!! You bet he does! The pool is set 2' high off the water and that is an issue for some dogs...it appears it's not for yours! A promising new star???
