Thank you and Sarge thanks you!!!

Bart--I've always loved those pictures of Sarge and Gunner enjoying their Christmas morning together doing what they love most!

I hate to report that his birthday was "anti-climatic" but the weather here was rainy, cold and brisk all day! I had to go to work this morning and run errands after school, etc! But tomorrow we've got a hike planned and definitely some time down at Lake Geneva for some swimming and jumping! I'm sure he'll also get his fair share of treats too!

Hard to believe the 'Ol Sarge Pants is 7 years old today. First and foremost before everything else--he is a warm short-tailed dog stretched out next to me on most mornings. I wake most days with his head laying over the small of my back. He eats, he sleeps, he plays. He's decided that the Frisbee is one of the best toys ever invented! He has helped to bring so many experiences and people into my life--most of these have been good--but ALL have been learning experiences that have helped create us into who we are today. We are always have gratitude for those memories. Sarge's bestest friends have been Sammie and Gunner. They are two of the only dogs I have watched Sarge actively engage in playing--he doesn't even really do that with Hope! But Sammie and Gunner he loves beyond measure! I know he wishes he could see more of them.

My most favorite memory of Sarge is one that I got to experience over and over. During the winter, when all the leaves were off the trees outside, the sun would pour into the bedroom and pool spilling over the bed. I would love to look at the crispness of snow outside and lay in the warmth of the sun on the bed. Sarge would jump up to cuddle with me. I would have the house quiet--no TV, no radio, no phone--and just lay my hand over his chest where I could see his heart beating against his ribs. I would listen to his heart and feel it beat underneath my hand. Those moments of stillness hold an element of reverence for me, peace in my soul that he helps bring me everyday I need it. And even now, with his muzzle starting to get gray and whiskery under his nose, he still likes to jump up and cuddle and be still next to me.

Well Sarge it took me sometime to locate it but I did!!
Wanted you to see this because I don't know if you remember much after this day on the beach :) Them darn puppies were grounded for a month for burying me. Dad finally came back and dug me out after taking that girl home, but not until 4am. I can't believe he left all that CrownRoyal, Tequila and Beer there.
Like we wouldn't drink it........It was hot! and so was that Chocolate girl hey Sarge?? I know you remember that!!!!! Wish we could have made it this year!!
