San diego boat show?

I noticed that splash dogs is listed for the SD boat show (Jan.3rd-6th) but it is not on the events list? Is it happening?

No, we are not at the event this year. I saw that info on their web site about a month ago and I called them to inquire about it. Are you ready for this? The woman said that they were going with the "water skiing squirrel" this year instead of the dock jumping dogs for their entertainment. Yep, you read that correctly, we got bumped by a water skiing squirrel. Maybe we need to get the SPCA in there to investigate "varment abuse".

Anyway, she sounded very excited about chippy the chipmunk, but when she heard the disappointment in my voice, she asked why I was interested. I told her that my dog had jumped in the event last year and I had planned to jump him again this year. She said it had been a very difficult decision, but that they had decided to try something new this year and go with "the squirrel", but they might go back to Splashdogs next year. I said that would be a good idea and that we would put on a great show for her.

She then asked if I would be coming to see the squirrel. I said no I would not be interested in that, but that I would be coming next year if she bumps the squirrel for us next year and brings back the dogs.

So, that is the story as I know it. Maybe Tony knows more.

I have a new event for next year's boat show its lets see if the varment can jump off a dock.Maybe I can finally get Madison are Basset Hound to jump she

The woman was very nice on the phone and I did not want to hurt our chances of returning next year, so I was VERY VERY NICE to her during our conversation. So, I wished her the best, but I said I thought she made the wrong choice and that a squirrel water skiing was a one dimensional event; that poor squirrel is just hanging on as tight as he can to avoid falling into the water, hardly a skill.

We had a nice talk, and by the end of the conversation she sounded as if she would be going with us next year. I told her I would put Chase on a Boogie Board and have a toy boat pull him around in the pool if that would help her decision. If we could just teach some of these dogs to do Log Rolling, we would be fine. Hey, Sadie rides a jet ski, that might work!

Maybe we can still jump. I think the Squirrel would help motivate my dog to jump further! He would like a squirrel for dinner! Maybe the annual squirrel jump could be a new event. The moving object would make it interesting.

Sadie is ready...boat show...Jet ski they go hand and hand..(better than a poor squirrel having to do what they are making him do)..Sadie would love it. She would also love jumping.....

I do agree with Brian.....Dock jumping belongs outside....there was room, out side in the front....

That is a bummer.

About 18 months ago I was referred to the lady in charge of the boat show entertainment. When we spoke she indicated that they had the squirrel in years past, but wanted to switch it up for 2007. I guess that happened as Tony did a great job getting that event together.

So, don't feel so bad...we bumped the squirrel, the squirrel bumped us.

I agreem with Melissa and think that we should have a talent contest in the same pool with the squirrel and Bubbles. Now that would be entertainment!!!

Well, I dont know how many of you watch Rod Luck KUSI..... let just say the WATER SKIING VARMENT was MIA during this mornings broadcast. Twitch the water skiing squirrel was making a round about the pool,,,, when he felt the need to jump out of the pool..... Running-a-muck at the boat show.... for about 20 min...lol

It's karma. Serves them right. Maybe that little water skiing fella does not enjoy the sport quite as much as his owners say that he does.

And, perhaps Twitch is up for changing sports and going on the Splashdogs circuit with all of us; either as a competitor or as the throwing object!

I guess the glue on his feet wore off and he decided he didn't like the water as much as his owner said ;) I agree, lets invite him to
take part in Splash Dogs. Make it an event for all the new pup's that will be joining Splash Dogs this summer? "Catch the squirrel" in the water?
I know Ruger would love to try for him. :p
