Hey Everyone! I am Kinda new to this and dont know many of you but I wanted to share some of our practice pictures.. We have not been to a competiton but hope to in January. This is My Black lab Charity. Full of Energy and willingness to Please! The Only thing is we are having dificulty in is that she is jumping a little to early. Does anyone have any pointers in getting her to push of the Edge? ]

You could try a jump a stride or two out from the end of the dock so the dog has to run, jump, 1 stride, and then lift off from the end.

You could also try working on the ground getting the dog to run at you and take the toy out of your hand as running past you, then transfer that to the end of the dock. Dog runs at you, grabs the toy as they lift off from the end of the dock.

Also, EV might help with this. You could build some sort of rig and have it out the right distance from the dock to where the dog would have to hit the end to jump up and grab the toy. Meaning if the dog took off to early they wouldn't get the toy (the reinforcement) so they would learn taking off from there doesn't work.

The problem is that if you throw it every time and the dog gets it everytinme, the behavior is working for her, so she will keep doing it the same way.

Good luck.
