Hi guys,

I was wondering if they were going to have that San Diego pool closing weekend for us again this year. Last year and the year before it was the 1st weekend in December. Does anybody know??

Funny you should ask, because I was wondering the same thing. I went to the Chula Vista Loma Verde Pool website, and it says Splash Dogs is coming January 19, 2008. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but here it is:

Dog-On Wet and Wild Pool Party more . . .

Dogs of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in this fun pool party. The event is free to the public and since the pool will be drained for annual maintenance, dogs of all ages and abilities are invited to compete or paddle in a variety of aquatic activities. Splash Dogs will host competitive activities so you will know whether your dog has what it takes to be the next star on ESPN. Games and prizes will be provided. Kick off the holiday season with your entire family at this wonderful event. Dogs will be available for adoption through the Chula Vista Animal Shelter. For more information, please contact Loma Verde Pool at (619) 691-5081.

That is correct Linda.

I just got off the phone with the organizer. They just put that up on their website in the last couple days. He was going to call me "tomorrow" he said, but it is all good for the 19th of January.

Details to follow, but it should be pretty much just the same as in years past.

Thanks Linda.... I couldn't remember the name of the pool. Hmmmmmm looks like they are draining a month later that the last 2 years. I was hoping that it wouldn't be in the next 2 weekends, although it may be a bit chillier in January than in December. Burrrrrrr  Nevada won't care though. She would jump through ice if I would let her the little nut.

Mark, thanks for more info :) Question do you know if it is both days Saturday and Sunday or just Saturday the 19th?? Wouldn't you know it I have a local flyball tourney the same weekend and am trying to figure out if I should just commit to 1 day or none and go play in the pool instead.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I called them back in October and they said they were going to move it from the regular date in December to January 19th, because they were using the pool longer and would not be draining it until the end of January.

I assume that Splashdogs does not have it on its Events Schedule because Splashdogs has an event in Sacramento on January 19th and I would assume that Tony will be in Sacramento on that day.

But, maybe The Loma Verde people will still let us come.

It's not official yet, but that is the same weekend as wags in Arizona.

I received the following message from an Aquatic Supervisor.

"The event will take place on Saturday January 19 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. We hope that you will be able to join us, and please tell a friend. Thank you for your interest in the City of Chula Vista Aquatics Program."

The hours look a bit short but at least the City has the day reserved for the dogs. Last year the EV gang had bumpers hanging most of the day and practice jumping also took place at another area of the pool. This is a great place to sharpen up your skills for the 2008 jumping season. See you all at the pool in January.
