I live on a dead end street. As you can imagine, people are always dumping dogs and especially cats. We do not have a no kill shelter locally, so I try my best to find homes where I can. The old lady at the end of the street feeds all the cats and there are nearly always kittens available. (The adults are too wild to catch). I currently have five dogs looking for homes. There are two brindle females, approximately 40 pounds, about a year old. They do not appear to be pit bulls as is often the worry. They are both very sweet. I spayed and did shots for one about a month ago. The other will have to wait until after the holidays. There are also two black females, about 50 pounds and maybe 3-4 years old. The vet called them retriever mixes. Both were spayed within the last few months and have their shots. One is very sweet with people, but NO CATS! and has shown mild aggression with the other dogs. She has a white spot on her chest. Her fur is an inch or so long, very soft. The other is absolutely gorgeous, great personality, hyper, but listens quite well despite her energy. She loves kids! She's no problem with the cats. Her fur is two or three inches long. She has shown no aggression whatsoever. I believe they are sisters as they were dumped together, but I have them separated because the first as I said has shown some aggression. I won't have that. She needs a family with no other pets. I know the brindles are sisters. We had a whole litter--nine puppies dumped in the dead end ditch. The black and black and white ones went quickly, but nobody went for the two brindles. Lastly is, for lack of a better guess, a Chow mix. She looks Chow, but she was 67 pounds when she was spayed nearly a year ago. She's 5-6 years, thick Chow type fur, very sweet, not a Chow personality at all. "Red" is I believe the official color, that reddish brown or dark reddish tan color they call "red." She's very sweet, a bit of a bulldozer, but loves kids, loves cats. She will growl at the other dogs, but has never become overly aggressive. They back off and she is happy. That may not be the case if someone has an older dog with similar dominating tendencies. She would make a great family dog, but we already have three we claim as our family dogs.
