Hey Guys,
Looks like Jenny and I will be road tripping down to San Mateo for the event and we are looking for somewhere cheap (but not ghetto, we want to make it back alive). Any help is greatly appreciated

All I can tell you JJ is not to stay anywhere near 3rd avenue that is the bad area of San Mateo. I graduated from San Mateo High almost a 100 years ago!

so far I have
Motel 6 in Belmont 1101 shoreway rd supposed to be within 5 miles of the site
also La quinta which is a little further away 7-8 miles but is on Airport blvd.
Any locals who can chime in? La Quinta is a bit more money but not sure about the area for the motel 6. Thanks

We are staying at the Motel6 in Belmont. If I remember right it is fairly new, and in a nice spot right off the freeway. Not a lot of housing more businesses than anything. Looks like a nice area. Right down the street from the Redwood City Dock!!! At least that is what I think. I hope I am thinking of the right one!!! =)

You guys crack Dega & I up. My office can fill the room with the enthusiasm amoungst you all. One of the great reasons I love this world of Splash.
Anyways, Dega & I will most definately be there since this is where she hit her first high jump. We came to San Mateo last year with a PB of 16' 6 and left there with a 21 footer and a catch to go with it.
I believe Shari & Nevada might make it up as well.
I grew up in Pacifica which is only 15 from San Mateo. Can't believe that is where Sandra went to highschool! She is right 3rd ave is not all that great.
My local suggestion to out of towners is that if you wanted to stay along the coast or stay directly in San Mateo...you have a zillion choices so don't limit yourselves. Even staying in a small hotel in Half Moon Bay would still only cost you 20 minutes or so of driving to the event. If there is anything I can help out on, let me know.
The event there last year was not too difficult to set up at. I am hoping tickets to the event will be on will call for all pre-registers again. I did not have a difficult time getting the parking staff to let me drop my gear at the gate first, but I had my tickets with me as well.
It was freezing and I am a local so bring extra cover for the family.
Looking forward to another successful event. I have invited some newbies to this event since it is local.
Till then, take care & Happy New Year!

Sandra was there even a San Mateo when u went to High School
Seriously guys the Motel 6 in Belmont is one of the Best in the Chain if not the Best. The last two years they have been remodeling they also have like a residence inn on property much nicer and costs a little more

Tasha - you are right about Motel 6 in Belmont being near the RC dock. It is just about a 5 minute drive. If you are coming out there are several hotels in the area, it is a business area, less housing than businesses. I will suggest you stay away from Redwood City, the hotels are either super pricey or in areas you may not want to stay at.
