Hi everyone,
Just to give you all a heads up, we will be trying to crate everyone on cement at the event however if we can't fit everyone we will need to put some of you on the grass. Right now the grass is really damp, so it would be best if you have tarps or ground cover for your canopies you should definitely bring it with you.
See many of you this weekend!

Note - as urs said - the grass is really damp, but even bigger concern is that the ground is REALLY soft which means that much walking in a given area results in mud pretty quickly. Those tarps and ground covers will hopefully help keep your tent areas somewhat mud free.
Also - we are going to try to crate on the concrete, but if the event organizers decide we're in the way, we might have to move to the grass, so be prepared!
That said, we're in a new location and we should get a lot more crowds and interest!

I was wondering if there was any information on which gate we should enter through and how to find splashdogs once we are at the event center? How far from the gate to the splashdog area and how far from parking to the gate?
Thanks
JJ and crew

From the event info page and the competitor info email that went out:
Go to the Will-Call Booth at the main entrance; You must have a dog. Say you are Splash Dog contestant. Person may have as many as two event passes.
Once in gate, walk left, outside, around the building. At west end of building, turn right. Splash Dogs is just around corner. To leave competition, exit on outside of building, reversing entrance procedure.
The gate is the main gate. The walk is a 3-4 minute walk I believe.

Thanks Wendy,
I was just double checking as the event registration page says
"We are working on obtaining entry through another gate closer to the pool"
so wasn't sure if anything had changed.

hi, all:
i have a sort of newbie question about crating. jane and i are coming on sunday to do the one wave. is bringing a crate mandatory for an event like this?
it would be nice not to have to schlepp that along with the ton of towels and dog sweaters! :D

No crate not mandatory, but be aware that unless you can find someone to hold Jane for you, you will not be able to visit the restroom as it is in the building and dogs are not allowed!

Hey all, just a heads up that Wave 6 is now full and we will take a waiting list at the event.
Also, all 3 waves on saturday are fairly full, so practice time will be limited. After the last wave ends, the pool will stay open for practice as late as 7pm, so you will be able to get in practice at the end of the day for sure!

FYI - we will be holding junior handler and lap dog finals on Sunday! They will be at 1pm just prior to the open finals.
All finalists must check in BY 12pm on Sunday or we will take the next dog on the list for the finals.

Wendy, Hello! Newbies here with Abby & Chip (owners Heather and Phil), we were planning on coming to our first splashdogs event tomorrow in San Mateo and wanted to have Abby give it a try during the practice times. We were going to come first thing in the morning, but per your quote above, would someone who's new and not planning to participate in any waves still be able to get in some practice jumps between the waves? We were hoping so, but am a bit disheartened by the message above..any info you have would help us plan our morning and day tomorrow. Thanks!

There will be minimal practice between 11am and 4:30pm as our waves will be full and will take most of the 2 hours.
Your best bet is between 10-11am, or after 4:30pm.
That said, we love to have newcomers out and you may get a few jumps in between waves, but it is likely to be long lines and short amount of time...

FYI - only 7 spots left in Wave 8 as of 7pm Saturday night.
I will not get any online registrations submitted after 7am Sunday morning as I don't have access onsite. After that it will be first come first served!
It's great we have so many people out jumping their dogs!
