This is quite interesting....Now you can see the most popular breeds (according to AKC) by city, check out San Jose, no wonder this sport is really taking off in our area, lol!

Interesting, but I would be even more interested to see how those numbers would change if pit bulls were on there.

AKC doesn't recognize them so they are not losted but IF UKC came out with the same report the order would be pretty different.

You know when i lived in sweden i was really used to the scent hounds cause all the farmers Owned them. When I moved to the Untited states you never see them. I am glad they are getting more recognized! Beautiful Dogs!!

Coonhounds are HUGE in UKC. UKC has probably the biggest coonhunting program, so all the coonhunters come here. At the Autumn Oaks, the annual hunt, there are something like 800 hounds out in the woods over the weekend. AKC doesn't recognize many coonhound breeds (which is strange, they're mostly American breeds and isn't it the AMERICAN KC?) and they don't have a coonhound hunting program. Plus, coonhunters aren't real interested in shows, so not much for them to do at AKC. They all come here. :) And I've got to say, been working here since October and they are usually the nicest people to deal with, even if I can't always understand their thick southern accents! Alot easier to handle than some of the APBT people!
