**This message is not meant to offend anyone.
As most of you know Andy has been diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia. We met with Dr. Rooks today in Fountain Valley, CA.
He wants Andy in for the TPO surgery on both hips in 9 days. Andy will also have to be double plated on each side. Until then Andy is not allowed to do anything other than walk on a leash outside to potty.
Here is our problem. Andy's surgery + 4 weeks hospital and phyiscal therapy is going to cost low # $13,000 to a high # of $15,000.
We have to come up with this by the time we have surgery.
I am hosting a yard sale this next Friday, Saturday & Sunday and am listing things for sale in our paper. We are selling most of our extra things, which is hard to do but for Andy we will do anything. We are volunteering for all the overtime we can get at our jobs. We are trying to plan a carwash as well.
If anyone of you would like to help us please do. We need all the help we can get. I wouldn't be asking if we didn't need the help. You can email me @ HelpPayForAndysSurgery@PrinceAndyFlores.com for more info. Thanks, Team Andy

Also wanted to let everyone know I have applied for funding with the Labrador Harbor Emergency Funding Group. So keep your fingers crossed. That would help with a good portion of the amount.

Well I tried to pull my money from my 401k and of course they said NO.
They said this situation with Andy is not a hardship. My @$$ it isn't. I am so sick and scared that I am not going to be able to pull this off. Please keep us in your prayers.

Hi guys
You may want to check out carecredit.com for financing. Several years ago we spent over $30,000 for our dogs at So.Cal. Veterinary Referral Group & they use CareCredit for people like you (&me) who need some assistance with vet bills. I would have thought that Dr.Rook's hospital would have something similar to offer you. Please check them out-they can help. Also, BTW, So.Cal Vet's have awesome orthopedic specialists there in Irvine :)
Hope you can make this work. We are praying for you.
Let me know if you want to talk.email or PM, whichever....

Andy has been listed on Labrador Harbor. Labrador Harbor is a non-profit CA Lab assitance organization. Ifr you would like to donate to help Andy receive his surgery please visit http://www.labradorharbor.org/labsinneed.html. You need to specify the donation is to be made in the name of Prince Andy otherwise it goes to a generic fund. Donations made to us through Labrador Harbor are tax deductible. Once again thanks!

Wow, I've come to realize from past conversations with Tracy and Barbara that veterinary care in Cali. is about four times the price it is in Utah. You could have that surgery in Utah at Christy's hospital with the best osteo doc in the state for well under $5000. I'm serious about this guys, this guy is great. I know I could get the hospital to provide all pre and post care at cost. The surgeon usually doesn't do both hips at the same time. Is that what your doc was going to do. Tasha, let me know if this is something you guys would be interested in. You could stay at our house and everything to help minimize costs.

Dave,,,
That is so true.... I used Dr. Rooke oh about 8 years ago... I have a 8 yr old GSD that at 7 month dx bi Lat hip dysplasia. I paid about 5G for both hips. Most vets dont do both hip. Dr Rooke does. For me that was a big +.. I was shocked/floored when Tasha told me the cost,,,,,,,,, I think my eyes bugged out a little too.....
Good thoughts going to Lil Andy,,,Bree send him speedy recovery. Stryker and bubbles say hurry up and get better so we can hit the dock....

David....
I have to say you are amazing. Thank you so much for caring about Andy and us. Boy have we met some great people through this sport. David you and your family are amazing. We can't say thank you enough for your offer.
We did however take Andy to meet another Surgeon. Dr. Adam Gassel in Irvine. He was wonderful with us. We scheduled surgery for Andy's left leg next Thursday, then about 3 - 4 weeks later we will do his right. Wish us luck.
The best part is he is only going to charge us $8000!!! That is going to be so much easier to raise in a week.
We started our yardsale today. We are kicking butt. We have made with the selling of our quad... are you ready for this........... Good luck reaching your goal! I would love to donate some, but my Sheltie seriously injured himself a month ago (4 days before our AKC agility debut) and will probably need surgery since he has a trauma induced luxating patella. The surgery will cost us anywhere between $1500-2500 or more. So right now, this poor college student is going to suffer... Yes we are DEFINITELY applying for carecredit!!!!
Good luck again!

FoxGlove,
Seriously, you should do a yard sale... If you just sit there and seriously ask yourself do I need this??? You will realize it is just a material thing that you will be able to replace down the road. Also if you ask your friends to go through there stuff and donate things that they don't use anymore you will be amazed at what you will come up with. Two weekends of yard sales and bargining with people, the part I hate... you should have most of it if not all. Just if you are to do a yard sale make sure and pay to run an ad in the newspaper. It will pay off. I wish you the best of luck.
Also check out this website, they may be able to help you some....

We also want to thank everyone for their opinions on this matter. The care and concern for Andy is truly truly appreciated! We have raised enough for leg number 1!!! He will be going in on Wednesday for that leg. Then it will be 3 to 4 weeks later that we do the other leg. We still need to raise 4000 - 4200 dollars!! But at least we are basically half way there. The yard sales went great, we made 2000 dollars with them!!! We are doing another yardsale this coming weekend!! Wish us luck. Thanks again for the good wishes!!! Keep Andy in your thoughts and prayers!!!!

I am an occasional lurker, I did attend the Splash Dogs event in MI last summer though! I saw Team Andy's post on the DD board and came here. I apologize for being late on the news.
I too am a recent HD diagnosed dog. My puppy was actually diagnosed right after we jumped with Splash Dogs last summer and had a total hip replacement last Oct two days after her first birthday. I have an idea that was done for me by Ultimate Air Dogs to assist with funds for us just to get it out there.
Teddi was diagnosed right before a big UA event. I mentioned it on the board because my heart was broken. One of the UA members suggested holding a raffle in Teddi's honor. They recommended having the sponsored participants to put together baskets and they would raffle them off to raise money. I was overwhelmed. They raised enough to get us a treadmill (we wanted one to exercise her until we found out she needed surgery sooner than later) and gave us cash to assist towards the surgery. I don't remember how much in total they raised, but later we did it again to raise money for rescues and made close to $1500 dollars.
It is just a thought, it does take work to prepare and do but I just thought I would toss it out there. Good Luck Team Andy! (I hate this infliction it is so not fair).
Teddi is doing very well post surgical now however her dock jumping days may be severely limited. Our surgeon says "no extreme sports". She loves it so we won't deny her, just not do a whole lot, and we won't try until she is fit and strong.
All the best to Andy from Michigan!
