Just returned home from the Pearland event. What a great event. Tony and staff did a excellent job of getting it all together. It was good to finally meet Brendi, Tony's wife. The weather was nice, a bit windy at times, a few raindrops, but not too bad for the Houston area.
There were lots of new competitors at this event, 1st time jumpers, and all did very well. It's always nice to see new faces. We even had a father/son competition going. Tucker's dad (Ken) actually started out working with Tucker and was doing very well as a 1st time jumper, but Lucas (son) worked with Tucker in a last wave yesterday and made it to the Pro Finals with him.
Congratulations to everyone, everyone was a winner.
I have a goofball golden that I am proud of, he loves to get on the dock (he will even back up it when on leash, he figures he can get up there quicker by backing up rather than waiting for me to lead him up), then when he gets there, he's not sure if he wants to jump or not and sometimes he will run and jump, sometimes he will not. He wants coaxing from the crowds, I do belive. But nevertheless, I'm proud of him and we enjoy the sport and meeting new friends.
Looking forward to more events in Texas. THink it is finally catching on in Texas.

Well we had a blast, Tony and his crew did an awesome job and a good time was had by all. But most of all I want to thank you, Emily..You, your husband and all your friends for making it a great time for us. We had come on Saturday, just for fun, and you talked us into entering the competition. and what a time we had. My son, who now won't let me run Tucker, finished with a 14 foot jump, on Sunday. But more important was how relaxed and helpful everyone was. I spoke with several people who were there for the first time and they all said the same thing. The atmosphere is relaxed, and everyone genuinly wants to see you succeed. I also found that the crowd loves you know matter how far you jump. They cheered for the dogs who jumped three feet as well as the ones who jumped 20 feet. We had such a great time on Saturday, that I brought my wife and daughter on Sunday. Again thanks to all.

We had a great time too! Always good to see friends again, and meet new ones. Both my girls had a blast and jumped new personal bests. Goofy Makena pup who acted like she was tired and didn't want to jump in the finals was ready to go again by the time we got home and was throwing her ball at me all evening. Can't wait for more jumps in Texas!

Thanks Tony, Tony's family & friends, Emily, Mike and Greg. Definitely fun event with more new teams trying the sport then I've ever seen. Also, more SUN than I needed.:(
Good to see some old friends and make new ones. I think some new Dock Diving addicts were made this weekend. :D
Good job by Bent & Cool. Looking forward to compete against you again.
Great job Jana!! We love you & Chewie. He has the fire.
Love watching Texas Liberty and her duck. Zoom Zoom will be progressing and jumping farther each competition. What a cutie!!

Did anyone watch or especially tape the news feature on the WB Pearland on Splash Dogs? Didn't find it on their website.

Congratulations to all. Everyone was a winner. THe finals were exciting. There was a tie for 2nd place. Both Sandy's Lizzie and Bentley's Cool jumped at about 19'02" (tie for 2nd). Lizzie broke the tie by jumping a little further. The top 4 dogs were Dakota, Lizzie, Cool, and Reggie. I believe this was Cool and Reggie's 1st competitions. Way to go guys.
Ditto Sandy's remarks on new dock jumping teams and meeting new friends. Like Ken said in his post, everyone wants to see everyone succeed.
Maybe we can continue to grow the sport in South Texas and get more events in the area.
Keep it up with ZoomZoom and she will get there.
Foxy will jump also (I remember she wouldn't even go in the water a couple of weeks ago).
See you all in the future at the next event.

Does Splash Dogs do the Extreme Verticle Jump? I think we would like to try that. I know Tony was talking about, and we got to try the Speed Retrieve, but I was just curious about the other.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the great weekend in Pearland. Reggie and I had a fantastic time with our first ever dock jumping event. I guess you could say that we are both hooked. We can't wait for another chance to see what kind of solar eclipse we can make with Reggie jumping. He is still a little tuckered out from all the excitment of the weekend.
I hope that we can make it for the "fun jump" but have to see what work has for me first.
Again good job this weekend to all the jumpers, handlers, and promoters.

This fun jump is open for anyone. It was sent to me via an email and that is why I thought I would post it. THere was a few people at the last fun jump that was at the competition this weekend and it is really a nice place to come jump. The pool and dock is at the home of Donna and Robert Doubler and hopefully there will be some competitions in the near future there. She has some shade and like the post said, you should bring your crate, chair and water. It will be getting pretty warm out there.

We really had a great time at the event too and were so glad that we got a chance to participate. Yeller was pooped by the end of the day. Hard work for an old dog, but it was really great being out there with everyone else.
I know there was some talk of a club in the Pearland/Houston area - is that still a go? Does one already exist?

I am working on getting some capital for a pool or looking for a dock and someplace to set up. Any ideas would be grand.

Yeller,
Did you see the post about the fun jump on April 19 in the Plantersville area. It is lots of fun. This fun jump is in a regulation pool and the 40 foot dock. Great place to go and have fun for the afternoon and meet new people interested in the same sport.
Hope to see you all there.

We missed the event in Pearland, but would love to come out for the Jump Day. Is it okay for newbies to come to this practice?
