I may need help with a lab!

Hello all! I think we're going to need some help with a lab rescue. We are active in JRT rescue but labs are a whole other ball game (I know, I grew up with one! LOL!). I received a call today about a very active one year old lab in Reno, NV whose owners would like to put him down because of his energy level. We are making arrangements to evaluate him and get him into temporary foster care...with terriers. ;) I did a search of the web for lab rescues but wondered if someone might have Nor NV/NorCal reference.

Thanks!
Liz

Hi Liz:
Whatever you do do not let this person put this lab down! I work with AAARF here in Auburn and let me contact them and see what we can do. Do you have pictures of him? Is he neutered? Please give me all the details you can.

Awesome! I will give you guys a call as soon as I have more details! This was one of those challenging situations where I could not get all the info I needed (ie neutered/intact, vaccinations, etc) other than the fact that he is in good health and driving everyone crazy with all his energy. I'll get him and we can figure out what to do with him from there.

Thanks!
Liz

Unfortunately, Murphy crossed the bridge today though we had an appointment to take him into foster care. I am deeply saddened that he did not have the opportunity for a second chance at life but am very grateful for the wonderful folks here who emailed me with offers to help get Murphy placed. Give all of your dogs a hug from us.

Thanks!
Liz

Most Devastating Ever........

My heart and thoughts go out to you and your family for having to be involved in something most ever devastating to me!!!!!!!

If posting this would not be evidence of my thoughts........I would tell you how I really feel about that person and the vet! I will not have to wish for pay back as for life does bring Karma back around to those who deserve it. "She" meaning the it that wanted to get rid of the dog, will get hers all without assistance!

Thank you for being who you are and trying to help keep life right!! I am so sorry for how it turned out.

Sincerely,
Gianna & Dega

heartbroken

What cruel, heartless people! And the vet! He should know better than to end a healthy, happy life. And all because of his energy level? If they wanted a lump of coal then why didn't the get just that. I am so seething mad right now!!!!

Heartbreaking

I just read this string. This is so heartbreaking especially when Murphy had a chance to go into foster care. Unfortunately, this is the fate of too many wonderful dogs, as we all know. It just personalizes it so much knowing he had a name. I wish people would know what they are in for when they get a dog. We Splash Doggers know they are not stuffed toys that you can stick on shelf somewhere. My Lab's original owners gave her up for precisely the same reason as poor Murphy. She surely would have suffered the same fate if we hadn't found out about her.

See you at the Bridge, Murphy.
