Champ Jordan 30'6"
Hi, Dock Divers,
Thought you would find this article about a female chocolate lab, Jordan, who apparently jumped 30' 6". Here is the link: http://www.pawnation.com/2011/01/15/..._lnk1%7C195469! Jordan looks no bigger than my own little black lab, Nicky, so we are inspired!! We're not all in Jordan's league, but this is a great story about our fabulous sport. See you all soon. ***************** Diane and Nicky, SPD, JD, PB: 14'1" |
thats a good jump, but it was a purina jump where they measure the farthest thing that hits the water. in splash dogs we measure where the base of the tail hits the water. so it was a good jump but nowhere near a splash dog record which stands at 27.8 held by two different dogs.

If you read the article she jumped 30'6" in the semi's!
She jumped 31'2" in the Finals w/ second place dog jumping 31'!!!!!!!! And yes it is measured to the Nose. |
Correction on the measurement point, Purina measures to the furthest point of the dog when the chest enters the water. This is great for those dogs that stretch those front legs out. Needless to say even taking 3-4 feet off of that score for the dog's body and you've got a really incredible jump, a nice 27 footer.
It is pretty difficult to claim an overall record for the sport. I don't think any of the dock diving organizations measure to the same point or in the same manner. How can you compare apples to oranges? Just saying??? |
Very interesting discussion! Thanks for commenting.
See you soon. ******************* Diane and Nicky: SPD, JD, PB: 14'1" |
Thanks Urs for the clarification on measuring. I thought Splash Dogs, Dock Dogs & Ultimate Air Dogs (UKC) all measured basically the same???
Anyway you look at it that was a Very Nice Jump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Marc - DD's, UAD and SD measure to the same point but different ways that they capture the measurement. DD's has their own system, UAD does manual measuring (by human eye) and SD by SD ruler - completely different than the DD's system. So, how can you compare any of these records together.
I've always been curious to take Aries out to DD's to see what their system would measure his jumps at, but that's not going to happen anytime soon, they banned me four years ago and have not lifted it yet, maybe a lifetime banning - who knows... |
