Older Lab

I am new to this board and found it by surfing the web for info...
I have a friend with an elderly lab (12 yrs old) who has been plagued for some time by age related issues. Someone she knew suggested she try her dog on a different food called Laughing Dog.
She has been feeding their senior formula for about two months now.
The other day, we were having lunch when I brought up a problem I am having with my 7 yr old lab (she is very knowlegeable and I do value her advice and opinions) and she raved about this food and suggested that I look into it and try my dog on it. I have been looking into other foods.
My question is...does anyone here also feed this food and do you have an opinion on how it worked for your dog(s)?

Food may not be the complete solution to whatever age related issues the dog has. Your friend would be wise to consult with a food expert or perhaps her local Vet.

No opinion on the Laughing Dog brand. I’m a huge fan of Natural Balance (NB).
NB is readily available off the shelf, reasonably priced, has various formulas to solve health issues, and they have an outstanding quality assurance program to ensure the final product is safe.

My main criteria for dog food is no meat by-products and no corn. This food seems to meet that criteria, but so do several others.

I have my young boy and my cancer survivor senior on Evo which has no grains, high protein and high fat. For my youngest, this is necessary to keep weight on him, for my senior, it's to help prevent metasticization of the cancer.

My middle aged dog is on nature's variety prairie food to minimize his meat and grain sources to try to help with allergies.

As Craig said, really depends on the dog.

Looking at the ingredients, looks like there's no meat by-products and no corn, but I would question the number of grain ingredients listed at the beginning of the ingredient list, but that does depend on the dog.

My belief is that there's not one food that's right for all dogs and once you determine your parameters (i.e. high protein, no grains, or whatever), there are usually several foods to choose from.
