Marley & Me

Who has gone to see this movie? Jim and I went a few days ago. I felt as though I had taken one of my children to the movies as I had to say shhh more than once to Jim who was crying out of control! (Ursula do not go see this movie) We had both read the book so we knew what to expect. (Had a box of kleenex in my purse) I agree with the critics that this movie was 20 minutes too long. I don't want to spoil the end of the movie, but you will know what I am talking about when you see it. This is not a movie for children! The story was focused mainly on the family and Marley was secondary. The trailers on this film are terrific which really reel you in but don't be fooled. I am anxious to hear what others have thought about this film.

I have not personally ventured into a cry fest yet, but many friends of mine have. They all called to give their feedback and there was not a one that did not lose it emotionally.

However, they said the same thing that the Marley was secondary and that it was too long. I did read the book and I recall it being all about Marley as they created a family life.

I heard the male actor was so so and Aniston did a good job.

I cried so darn hard w/the book, I will wait till it comes out on DVD to watch it.

Have to defend one of my favorite comics, Owen Wilson, I thought he did great! Jennifer was darling in it.

My boy Matthew came over and said "what ever you do dad DO NOT go see that movie"!

Didn't think I could handle it. Said it was a good movie but the end was too emotional. Even for me.

Thanks for the warnings -- think I'll wait for the DVD so I can cry my eyes out at home. Sounds like the book is better than the movie from a dog-lovers perspective. Guess I shouldn't be surprised -- I'm often disappointed with the movie after I've loved a good animal book (I still can't believe how they changed the ending of Horse Whisperer). I'm a big fan of both Owen and Jennifer so look forward to the movie regardless!

Since the last dog we lost was an almost 13-yr-old yellow lab with quite a bit of "Marley" behavior in her youth, we could relate to much of the book and have been looking forward to the movie.

Randy wanted to see it, but I told him how it ended, so we nipped that idea in the bud right away. You know it's bad when your only other movie option is Tom Cruise and the Nazis!

Sandra - too late!!!! Oh my Lord, had I known they would put so much into the end I wouldn't have gone. I too love Owen Wilson. I walked out of there with Amanda in my arms sobbing...trying to console not only her but myself, lol...

Though I wish it were a little less heart wrenching, I am so glad there is a movie out there showing the love we "dog people" have for our dogs...

Well its just a good thing you didn't go with Jim! I could just see the 3 of you walking out of the theater! He was a mess!
