Default That's Drive....

That's pure drive if not down right a bit crazy........sure hope you have a crew to stand by your side through this!! Least feeding you and giving you water......LOL Don't forget 1 person can't do it all!

It takes a team of people being all on the same page in headed in the right direction. Least that is how I try to see life working to build things, not to destroy them.

Keep up the good work and make sure you don't break yourself!

When I set a goal I try not to let anything stop me. I am a bit obsessive..lol It is raining here now and I am waiting. I will check on the pond tomorrow because I am judging a Super Singles competition (retriving test). I think the rain won't set the pond back much. (fingers crossed)
I love a challenge.

Default Oh my gosh

I know where this is! This was the first place I took Kylie to introduce her to birds and shotguns. The dog trainer there took her on that spit to see how birdy she was with a pigeon. He was training her sister there and she was doing very well. Well, Kylie had other interests, and he said she would never be a hunting dog, she wouldn't retrieve. Heck, she was only 6 months old! Look at her now. Hope this works out, it would be great to have more fun jumping closer to home.

It is drying out slowly and this rain isn't helping. I have done some work around the pond, moving a hillside a bit further back and adding some dikes for the other dog trainers. Building up a berm around the edge of the pond to prevent silt flowing into the pond in the future. Took out a small stump that was at the edge of the pond just under the waters surface.
Got the loader stuck in the pond and dug it out by hand to get it free...lol
Made a road around the pond.

Finishing up a trailer for an agility club so I should be able to start building the dock trailer soon.

The usual stuff.

The pond is getting pretty dry and there is no more rain in the near future. I hope to get in and dig it out either this week or next week. Just keeping everyone informed.

Default Work Progressing

Ok actually got the loader into the pond the last two days and have about 2/3 of the whole pond scraped out. Putting a berm/levy around the pond to help raise the water level and make the pond deeper. I think we will have the entire pond around 5 feet deep and the diving area around 5.5 -6 feet. The last 1/3 of the pond is still a bit to wet to get in so might wait till either this weekend or maybe tuesday to try and get into it. Have about a day of work (once I can get in the wet area) till we will be able to fill the pond. The Dock itself will take a bit longer but should be ready in a few weeks. Gotta check the weather and make sure we aren't getting anymore rain.

THE DOCK IS GOING TO HAPPEN!! YEAH!!!

This is awesome Thank you so much for giving us updates. Question??? Where the heck is this pond?? I looked at the maps with the freeways that you gave us and I can't for the life of me find this pond or area. It doesn't seem to jive with the freeways??? I was out in that area or so I thought anyway and drove around looking for it but no luck

Thanks,

Smile Chase was born there!!!

CHASE WAS BORN THERE. Just a few feet away from the pond. 10 years ago last month. His mother passed away when he was only 3 weeks old, so I spent a lot of time there each week visiting him and bonding and playing with him as a tiny puppy until he was allowed to go home at 7 weeks. It's a nice spot, easy access, right off the freeway.

Yep It is Prado Dog Park. I did not want it to get out too soon exactly where the pond was because I needed time to get hunting dog clubs to be OK with us taking over part of "their" only training and testing area in the area. The grounds are used to train Retrievers, Spainels, and Pointers and they also hold Lure coursing events there at times. The pond we are using is right by the office and kennel building and is the farthest from most of the other training areas. Part of the deal to get use of the pond was to improve the pond for the other trainers/clubs. We will not have exclusive use of the pond but should be able to use it most weekends but we will havde to let others use it on some weekends for their tests or training days.
This is not a city park type of area. This is 1/2 way between a park and wilderness. There are wild animals that sometimes wander into the area (usually at night) such as deer,racoons,etc.. It is also a workig farm for praire grass used as feed for the dairy'sin the area. They work to make the area dog safe, they mow feilds and plant some areas to get rid of foxtails and nettles. They constantly try and control the ground squirell populations (without posions). Everything they do has to be enviromentally safe because it is state owned land.
I am going to make up a guideline and rules paper for the use of the park and the use of the dock for the dock diving dog owners who will not know the etiquette of the park. We really want to avoid any problems in the begining.
