I just watched the video. I will readily admit this is extreme. I have never heard of the eye scraping, although I have dealt with a few eye infections over the years. I had a cat when I was 20ish who had eye surgery...both bottom eyelids flipped back...they were too big. The vet took a piece out of each and stitched them up and he never had a problem again.

It's hit and miss with vets, though. My vet had a partner for a short while. I saw him three times, then refused to see him again. He always invented more to treat. But I still use her, and he lasted a couple of years in her clinic, then moved on.

$12 is acceptable for an ear cleaning, which I know most people can't or are afraid to do, whether because of the mess or fear of damaging the pet. Cats are more sensitive, but dogs are really simple. I did have one dog many years ago that it took two of us because I guess she had been hurt and was petrified of the process...but it is really very simple. My dogs for the most part over the years I've been able to approach with my supplies and they sit and soak up the love and attention. Working in the vets offices I was at first surprised people brought their pets and paid someone to do it, then shocked by how many dogs are scared of it. (I guess I'm lucky my dad was a farm boy and taught us how to take care of things).

Actually, I usually don't charge for that.... that is the charge for taking a sample, staining it, at looking at it under the microscope!

Glad your dogs like the cleaning... makes life SSSOOOO much easier, doesn't it?

I can usually do pretty much anything that needs to be done. I have a cat almost nine years old who to this day gives me trouble and manages to slice my finger if I have to give her a pill. And we've had her since she was three or four weeks old. But when I was younger I never dreamed the trouble a dog could give.
