Sweet Dreams Savannah ~ Rainbow Bridge
Savannah 12-21-94 to 05-13-08
Saying Good bye is always hard. I often wonder if I would know when the right time to let go of a beloved friend. Yesterday I made that decision to say good bye to Savannah. Savannah has a sad story. Her first 2 yrs of life where spent on an 8 ft chain living outside on a pallet under an e-z up. I heard about this dog that got bit by a rattle snake and owners paid to save the dog then said that they felt that she would run away or might get bitten again by a snake. There answer to this was to put her to sleep. I had just rescued a male German shepherd named Hunter. I said yes I would love to have a female for him. Hunter and Savannah were like two pea’s in a pod. Where one went so did the other. Savannah wasn’t into all the sports. Not to say she didn’t know how to play flyball. She did (wink wink) Only her game of flyball. She was by far the easiest dog in the house. She was the glue that kept everyone together. She was the mother of the house. If Bree needed her ears itched Savannah was their. If Bubbles was stuck under the house Savannah was the one letting me know that Bubbles needed help. I was told at the last Splashdog event in OC. That a pit bull name Jack has some dog aggression. They camped under our Ez up. Val (owner of Jack) said to me that Savannah was the first dog that he has gone up to and just calmed down and sat next to. She was 100% love it did not matter who you were. Yes Brian did find out the secret ways into Savannah heart. All it took were a few French fries. Her eyes were the path ways into her sole. Yesterday her sole told me to say it is time for me to go to Hunter. I will miss the jingle of your collar and the woof at the door. Sweet dreams Savannah. Run free over the rainbow bridge. Oh Melissa,
I'm in tears...I'm so so sorry. You and I talked about this in Del Mar....I remember telling you that you will know when it's time. Your in my thoughts and prayers....As Sandra said you are surrounded by family and friends. I've been thru this several times and it's not easy. Just know in your heart what a wonderful life you gave her. Hold on to those great memories and beautiful pictures you have shared with us. Anyone who has been there, done that knows what pain you are going through right now. Hopefully the memories will soon come and fill that horrible void that you have in your life and in your heart.

Melissa - you know how I feel girly...my heart is broken for you....our two girls are now running free, no more pain, no more worries...we had the chance to love two wonderful companions who will always be in our hearts...how lucky are we....

 Hopefully you will have some comfort in knowing that Savannah and Hunter are together again. This must mean that Stryker is going to give you some magic come next week at the Crown to help uplift your spirits because he will be wearing 2 sets of wings to give him flight. What a beautiful pair Savannah and Hunter are; great picture. I'm sorry they are both now gone but they are together. Something about the older dogs calmness and love is always missed. I lost my older girl last year about this time. I still smile when I think of her. Sandy
