Default New we did not want so soon

Last week Sarah was at the vet with Gumpy and he confirmed something we had suspected for just over a week. The lymphnodes are back. His blood work is also showing signs of bad coming news for a few weeks. After talking with the vet today we have made the hard choice of stop all chemo treatments. We have done all that we can do for him without giving up his quality of life. Right now he is being treated with prednisone and diet and he is doing fine. He is not acting sick in any way. We have just run out of treatment options for him.

Gumpy has faught longer than we ever thought he could. He has had more time than most of the vets thought he would ever get.

Sarah is handling things really well. She is the one who made the final choice of not treating him anymore. She wants to let him have his final time doing what he loves to do as long as he can. She said she can't ask anymore from him. We do not know how much time he has left but we know one thing.. He will be going strong until the day comes to say good bye.

Default Amazing Love & Devotion

Hi there,

Unfortunately I don't believe Dega & I ever had the opportunity to meet you guys. However, we have watched the posts and prayed for Gumpy. We are deeply saddened over reading this for all the efforts you guys gave your pup.

I would like to tell you that I feel Sarah's strength in her decision is an amazing example of love & devotion to the loyalty Gumpy provided you guys.

Our hearts are with you and wish nothing but peace for your family.

Sincerely,
Gianna & Miss Talla Dega

I am also sad to hear the news about Gumpy. I believe you have made the correct decision, just let him enjoy his days. He will let you know when the time has come. Be with him all the way to the end. I did that with my dog(s) and I believe that they appreciate your being there with them.(It isn't easy, but I think it's the right thing). Now really go and enjoy every day you have !!
Tinka and I will keep you in our hearts and prayers,
Suzy & Tinka

Default Gumpy

We are sorry to hear about Gumpy. We only met Gumpy once, but he made quite an impression. We were next to you guys at Cyno. Sarah, just think about all the joy that Gumpy brought to you over the years. Let him be happy and give him all the love you can while you can. Let him relax and have a good time. Gumpys been through a lot, just let him be a dog and he'll be a happy boy.

Thank you.... Our only regrete is that Gumpy did not have the time in this world to know more of the unconditional love that all dogs deserve. We only have had him for a little over a year and a half. Most of that has been spent fighting cancer. We are just glad that he had the chance to do what he loves to do. He was at an event this weekend in MI and had a blast. You can tell he is slowing down. He can no longer do UV/SV and his jumps are getting shorter but who cares.. He was happy doing what he loves to do. He even managed a few of his excapes and jumping into the pool.. Sarah is going to keep letting him do what he loves to do until he can no longer do it. We had hoped to bring him to another event in the nice warm sun but the vet has said that it is not safe for him to fly anymore. I know he will tell us when his time has come.. But right now he is spending the odd weekend at events and the weekdays laying in the sun or under blankets on his bed. And this week he is busy teaching a pup what is good to casue trouble and what isn't. lol
