Does anyone know how the dog is that had to have emergency surgery on Saturday night. He was a Golden Retriever and belonged to one of the Shasta Club Members. I think the dog's name is Champ.

Stacie:
I just got word from Barbara Darrow and Champ had emergency surgery and is doing fine. He had bloat, which I understand, is fairly common in labs, they had a vet speak at one of their flyball tournaments and he spoke of the symptoms. Dry heaving is one of them and the owner rushed Champ in. According to what Barbara said most dogs don't make it. So another happy ending!

I spoke with his "Dad" (owner) on Sunday and he said Champ made it through the surgery but they hadn't picked him up yet. His owner was such a sweet guy, hearing him talk about Champ and his other dogs was kinda like having a "Norman Rockwell moment."
Glad to hear things are going well. Thanks again, Sandra. |

Hi,
Sorry it took me so long to respond, I don't check the board as often as I should. Champ is a yellow lab, ten years old. Thursday night of the Shasta event he was taken to the vet ER with dry heaves, and was diagnosed with torsion. He survived the operation just fine, is looking great, and had his stitches out yesterday. We went by to visit on Wednesday. :-) Thanks for asking, he's really a good boy, and his human parents are very special people. Barbara Darrow |
