Good Sunday Morning!
So, the good news is that it was much warmer yesterday to compete than the weekend before! Yea! I got to meet a cool GSP named Tara who is jumping for the first time! Way cool! I think there were about five junior handlers there yesterday working with their dogs--gotta love that! Talk about sport sustainability! Super Vertical had I think about 5 dogs giving it a try! There was a new guy there with his black lab (can't remember name--sorry!) who were really enjoying the game! The placing for SV turned out with Gunner taking 1st place and Sarge taking 2nd place! (Bart's going for the "double-double" again! ) Pete and Cheif made an appearance--we didn't see them--I don't know if they're coming back today. Not sure what they jumped. Haven't seen Todd and Gabe--hoping they show up today. Heard that Josh and Ace might be in the house today too. Urs--we hope the move into the house is going great! We miss you!

Hey Sandra!
Sorry we won't be seeing you today! We hope your back is better soon! It's windier and chiller today--so maybe it's good that you're home resting. LG jumped a 23.11 yesterday so that puts MickeyD in 3rd and Sisko in 2nd going into the finals. We'll let you know how the creeper-crawler does! Best of luck to him today!

Wave 7 and Millie the un-wonder dog!!!! If you were there Sat. you may have noticed Millie the Choc. lab with the pink collar who by her 2nd jump in wave 7 would not jump off the dock no matter what. It made for a few laughs, but I knew this wasn't the real Millie. She had done pretty well in her practise jumps and ok in her first wave jump but I noticed something happening to her. Greg was right and mentioned as a general announcement to everyone to be careful about the cold water. Well Millie knew the water was too cold for her. She has "cold tail","limp tail" what ever you want to call it, and poor thing she is in pain. She can't sit and is having a hard time finding a comfortable spot lying down. So I guess she's just not a winter dog or she's just too much of a princess!! We had a fun time anyway.

Great event Tony, Greg, Randy, Jim, Wendy, and JR!
(I should have bet JR on da Bears game! ) I saw a lot of new people really enjoying the sport with their dogs! Always a great thing to see! And how many junior handlers? Seven or eight? Awesome! Kudos to Rob Barnhill too! I saw Rob helping out a bunch of people more than I saw him working with his own dogs! This sport always needs more good ambassadors! Well Sandra, we didn't get the double-double. And no Tracy, we didn't even stop for a milkshake! But I'm still proud of the boys! Sarge took a 2nd in the Junior finals and a 2nd in SV. Gunner took a 2nd in the pro finals and a 1st in the SV. One of these days Sarge will surprise me and the crowd and pop out a zinger of a jump! Maybe when the nephew comes to town for a visit! 8) It was a fun weekend! Congrats to ALL the handlers and dogs!

Hey All,
Sounds like everybody had a good time! Sorry we missed it, but we are pretty much all moved in to the new place. Dogs are getting reaquainted and cats are once again ruling the house. We did manage to get some flyball in, helped calm the boys down a little yesterday. Amanda, we missed being there too but as you could imagine we were quite busy with the move and I need to get the dogs settled before any more events. Urs

The Splashdog event at Cal Expo was our 2nd time ever jumping Dusty (choc lab handled mostly by my daughter Chelsey 11 this past weekend). We showed up at the event last year on Sunday morning (same event) and were able to run Dusty for his first time off a dock. His breeder and partial trainer was Dustin Retrievers out of the Sutter Butte area. Dusty has two full seasons of waterfowl experience, is hand signal and whistle trained, but the docks were ALL new and quite awkward at first. What an experience! Last year, I believe he hit 15' on his 2nd attempt during a practice session, but we honestly were too intimidated to run him in the actual contest after watching some dogs at that event hitting 20+. This time around, we went for it. With the encouragement of a lot of really nice people at the event, and a lot of maturity growth in our only son (Dusty), we decided to run Fri, Sat & Sunday. My daughter is ready to start hunting with me next year as she loves to work Dusty and be with Dad. Hits you straight in the heart to see your little girl that into this type of an event with her dad. Chelsey could not have been more proud of running Dusty to a 2nd place in the junior handler finals, and then took on the seniors with a lot of confidence. She got him to jump further than I did for most of the day (ended with a 17 footer off a throw/mark first and then send for retrieve method). Anyway, I want to thank all of the great competitors who helped my daughter and I with tips and encouragement. We're hooked! So whether we're doing hunt tests or dock jumping contests this spring, summer, and fall, we hope to see you all at the events again. Look forward to trying any area clubs that may get kicked off too! Eric
