Default BC World Record

Does anyone know what the world record is for Border Collies? I'm curious as to what they can do.... thanks!

Hmmm I would think that the world record for a border collie would be my NevadaPup with her 26 foot jump I have been told that she is only the 3rd dog ever to go 26 feet or over.... The other 2 are Little Morgan (black lab) and Country (greyhound/coonhound mix).

Shari

I'll even chime in here and say that last summer at Wags I saw Nevada jump in the 25+ range AND was leaving the dock anywhere from 4-6 feet early on some of those jumps. So if you do the math--those BCs have great potential to throw up some serious numbers!

Awesome, thanks! I'd love to see NevadaPup jump! What's her EV best? My BC, Chord, jumped 20'1" at his second event this Saturday (and my first handling him). He made Sr. finals with 2 jumps just shy of 20', and placed 3rd with his 20'1" jump. Now I've just got to learn how to throw, and we're good to go! I'm 16 years old by the way, and live in PA.

Thanks Amanda for the Kudos Yes, at Wags last year at Nevada's first official jumps she was leaving 4 to 6 feet early (I have the pics that show it), however her longest jump then was 24 feet. The majority of her jumps were in the 22 foot range with the early's. It took me 2 more events to find her sweet spot  to get those 25 footers that she does today and I have to find it again at each event as it is always changing even if it is the same dock (Tony's Splash Dock is the very best) She is a work in progress . My goal is to get her to leave on the edge (she still leaves 1 to 3 feet early) and get over 26 feet and hopefully 27 or 28 feet.

Wow, bordercolliepa you are a youngin 20 feet for your first event is awesome. Rob, Amanda and Bart have some great advise on another thread in this board (Bumper throwing) They are accomplished dock divers and know what they are doing (and really nice people too I might add  ) Just keep working on those throws and take their advise and you will improve with time.

Nevada doesn't do EV (Extreme Vertical) and probably never will. We have worked with her but Nevada likes to dive head first, she has her own style unlike any other jumping dog out there. We do a set and release not the chase technique. Her longest big air jump on record is 26 feet which she earned at the Long Beach Dock Dogs event in March. Here is video of her at the Costa Mesa Splash Dogs event this past April that someone put on their My Space if you would like to see her jump.
