Default Dock Jumping in Austin, Texas?

I've got a natural dock jumper on my hands and I'd like to get her practicing more "officially". Anybody know of a club that exists in Austin?

Default Come Up to Garland

Hi GRobb -

Ya'll come up to the Garland event. Our first official jump was in Ark. in 2005. We Texans and Southerns usually have to drive "a bit" to find an official jump. Once you are addicted -- well, I'm up to 5 states to date.

Occasionally they come to us in the DFW area and we get EXCITED!

We also have jumped in Buda and a couple of years ago there was an event in Katy. We'll all have to work on getting those again!!

We don't have a club here in Austin. I'd love it if we did. I go out to lake pflugerville about once a week and jump off a dock there with a friend and her dogs. If your north and would like to join us sometime send me an email daniellep1@yahoo.com

Greg at Gateway Dog Training does some dock diving over at the pool at Hearts and Paws. Try him at greg@gatewaydogtraining.com

Or come on out to the event this weekend in Garland. It will be my first event also. The people have been super friendly and helpful and I am sure they will help you out. I wont be there until Sunday. My Jack Russell Terrorist will be at a jrt playday on SAt, but we will be there jumping(or trying at least) on Sunday.

Hi GRobb, Danielle is right, we don't have an official SplashDogs club here in Austin. I'd like to get one started though, just can't say when I'll get to it. Too many irons in the fire. Right now, we're just an informal network of crazies consisting of my current and former students. We have a 2/3 size pool and dock at Hearts & Paws that we use. You're welcome to come out and observe. I'll be there this Saturday, the 20th, from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

Send me a PM and I'll give you the details.

Well it looks like you already have the info I was going to pass along to you. I was going to hook you up with Greg Sharp, but it looks like Danielle beat me to it. I hope you can hook up with either Danielle or Greg. They are both wonderful people and will help you get hooked on this sport.

Thanks for the kind words, Debi! (I'll slip you a $5 at the next event!)

Hey, maybe you can give me some tips for setting up a club? Can it be done by a person that has no spare cash (because it all gets spent on the dogs) and no spare time (ditto)?

Hey Greg

I am a little tight on time these days as well, but it should be settling down here in the next few weeks when flyball season is winding down. If there is anything I can help with as far as an Austin club just let me know.

Smile Austin-San Antonio club

Hi,
Marlowe and his mom would definitely be interested in helping with a club in the surrounding area. There is a training facility in SA that has dock diving capability (I think), but really doesn't train. Maybe we could get some interest into San Antonio doglovers, if they could see the sport. We would be interested in doing whatever to get the club going. We are involved in a couple of other activities as well, but would be more than happy to donate time. Let us know.

Emily & Marlowe

Thank you Danielle & Emily, for your offers of help. Debi sent me an email with all that we need to consider and I'll forward that to both of you.

Debi- thanks for the information. There's a lot of stuff in there I never would have considered.
