We need more events in Texas. In the past few weeks, I've seen emails showing interest for the sport in Texas.
What can we do to help get the events here. I am grateful for the event in Pearland and in Grapevine, but that is several months apart. Thanks, |

Maybe we can all get together at the Event and see what it takes to get a local club started. There is definitly the interest now we need the knowledge on how to do it.

There are definitely enough people in the Houston area. Hopefully I can get some interest up from the fellow agility competitors. I definitely will be joining any Houston area club if one is started and would help out at all competitions as I do for local agility competitions as well.
Just keep me posted if we can have some sort of meeting about a possible club starting so we can get more events!

One of the big factors about holding more events is the cost.
Any company that brings out a trailer/dock and a pool has a big expense to get it there, set it up/tear it down and staff it, plus wear and tear on the equipment and the up front cost of the equipment itself. Most events pay a fee to have a dock jumping company host a competition to help cover this cost (wave fees alone are not enough). So, if you want more events, my best suggestion is to help find events or stores or functions that might be willing to help host the competition (and cover costs), or work on building/locating a facility of your own at which point it would be much cheaper for splash dogs to come in and help hold an official competition as you would be providing the dock/pool or lake and there would be just be the cost of staffing (a judge if the club provides other staffing), processing registrations and bringing out the judging system/pa system, etc. |

Well, we will try to get some stuff together and see what we can come up with. I know we can definitely try to approach the two Bass Pros in the Houston area (Pearland and Katy) and there is also Gander Mountain.
At the event, we all definitely need to start figuring something out so we can try to get things together to present to people. Maybe we can start making something happen with this if we want it bad enough.

Yes, what happened to the event at Grapevine in August? Did they cancel?
Do we need to write letters to them? |

The event is postponed. We will be rescheduling the Grapevine event.
