Greetings!

My name is Kris L. Christine. I live in Maine and am the Founder and Co-Trustee of THE RABIES CHALLENGE FUND (www.RabiesChallengeFund.org). My precious canine companion, Meadow, developed a malignant mast cell tumor directly on the site of his rabies shot at the age of 6 (syringe hole still visible in the tumor) and died in July after repeated surgeries failed to yield clean margins and the cancer metasticized throughout his body.

It is my goal to make available to all dog owners the scientific data on the known durations of immunity for canine vaccines and the adverse reactions associated with them so that they can make informed vaccine decisions for their beloved companions. In 2004 I launched a successful effort to change Maine's rabies immunization regulations for dogs from 2 to 3 years and insert a medical exemption clause; later that year Representative Peter Rines introduced the nation's first pet vaccine disclosure legislation on my behalf.

I have long heard conflicting "rumors" having worked mostly with horses, but also for a couple of vets and 13 months for a guard dog company.... I have heard some vaccines were good for three years, some up to seven years, but none of the rumors were clear and precise. I go to a mobile vet for the yearly rabies as is required by law, but I buy the six in one from the feed store to vaccinate my dogs, and I have been doing this for close to twenty years. I always got the puppy shots and boosters, then never returned to the vet unless I needed to. I've had some very healthy dogs.

You seem to be in a position to get things accomplished. Here is some info you may not be aware of or know what to do with. My son "was" ADHD, until we struggled to research the causes, etc. Long story short...The FDA works for the government, not the people. There are a lot of artificial colors, flavors, preservatives in our food today that are not only not beneficial, but potentially harmful. An example is yellow 5 & 6...not sure which one or both, but causes/irritates asthma. Our big one is red 40. People think their kids are on a sugar high - try red 40. It is in nearly everything, especially candy. My son is no longer ADHD because I eliminated to the best of my ability the artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives from his diet. I also eliminated them from my own. I feel ten years younger, my focus is better, my energy is up. This has been over the course of five years, 1st through 5th grade. I have a baby nearly a year old. She has had none of that nonsense in her diet and her development has been way early on everything.

My more recent point.... Due to circumstances on top of circumstances, I can no longer afford to feed my dogs Purina One, which I love the results of. I went to Dog Chow the end of last summer. I have had so many problems with my dogs since then, which I attributed to the new baby. Well...around the first of the year I read the ingredients on the Dog Chow. Red 40! I started flipping bags in the store, bought Publix Brand Dog Food. Six or eight weeks later my dogs are back to their normal, healthy selves. Now, I would love to go back to Purina One when I can afford to again, but my point is.... The red 40 in Dog Chow gave my dogs ADHD. Now there is something you can research and help the world with. I know the facts...tried and true. My son is the proof...and now my dogs...and technically, so is my baby girl having never had that garbage in her system. You know...she will be a year March 21st and has yet to be sick. There has to be a connection. My son used to get sick all the time, not so much anymore, and I rarely do, not so much as a cold. There has to be a connection. I went on the Dog Chow website. They use red 40 to regulate the color, to keep it the same brown all the time. Brown is brown. Publix Brand is brown too.... I believe health is more important.
